Passalacqua - both sublime and awesome - both words seem inadequate to describe the overwhelming beauty and warmth of this stunning hotel. Perched on a glorious hillside garden overlooking Lago di Como, it has the advantage of great staff and boutique presence that allows the hotel to feel like you are staying at a friend's villa! Typical hotel foyers are dispensed with here, and we are welcomed with a drink in the small bar, before being shown to our room! A room, deeply moody in colour, furnishing and lighting, with classical proportions making us feel welcome, secure and special - all at once! We even had a small glimpse of the lake which was an added bonus. It is the best!
O banheiro . Belíssimo !
Everything. Passalacqua is simply extraordinary and a destination in itself.
The location is breathtaking and truly unique.
A special mention to the outstanding team — from the bellboys to the director, Chef Viviana, the Michelin-starred chef, who creates a refined tasting experience (the lobster with caviar was unforgettable). Breakfast was exceptional — among the best I have ever had.
The flower experience was a beautiful and memorable touch for my wife.
The SPA is elegant and relaxing, and the access to the lake is seamless and sophisticated, with the possibility to explore Lake Como aboard stunning Colombo 31 Superindios boats — a treat that perfectly completes the stay.
An unforgettable experience in every detail.
Nothing.
Passalacqua is less of a hotel and more of a love letter to Lake Como. Every corner feels curated by history, from the scent of jasmine drifting through the tiered gardens to the sunlight dancing on the frescoes. The service was like an invisible hand, anticipating every desire with a grace that made us feel like the villa’s long-awaited guests rather than temporary travelers. It is a rare sanctuary where time seems to slow down just to admire the view.
Only the inevitable moment we had to walk through the gates and return to the real world. It is a difficult place to leave behind.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Passalacqua. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly warm, friendly, and genuinely eager to help with anything I needed. Everything at the hotel felt very accommodating and tailored to guests’ needs, from early check-in to room preferences, making the stay feel personal and effortless.
The atmosphere throughout the hotel is beautiful, relaxed, and elegant, with lovely seating areas both inside and outside. Every corner feels thoughtfully designed and gives off such welcoming, peaceful vibes.
Breakfast was one of the highlights. It felt home-style yet luxurious, with a great variety of fresh options.
Overall, it was a truly delightful experience, comfortable, charming, and full of warmth. I 100% recommend staying here!

Everything was perfect !
No, everything was great
Simply Exceptional!
Highly recommend! We dined at the restaurant and had a delicious dinner. I had the truffle pasta, which was absolutely to die for. The atmosphere was beautiful, with lovely live piano music. The service was excellent, and the property itself, the hotel and especially the grounds, was absolutely stunning. A truly memorable evening!
I went there with my husband for a romantic weekend, and the place surpassed our expectations — especially since I had heard so much about it from other guests and in the press, as it often wins hospitality awards.
The attention to detail in absolutely everything is mind-blowing, and the romantic atmosphere created throughout the property is truly unique. The staff were excellent, always attentive and very friendly.
We also had a fantastic mixology class with Andrea — I highly recommend it!
Passalacqua is without doubt one of the prettiest hotels I’ve ever seen. The gardens, the atmosphere, the setting on Lake Como — stunning. That’s where the positives end.
I was pregnant when I stayed, and we had booked the hotel as soon as it was crowned “Best Hotel in the World.” Wow… were we (and the committee) wrong.
We hadn’t originally planned to dine at the hotel, but when heavy rain canceled our dinner plans elsewhere, we decided to stay in. Despite being guests of the hotel, there was no space for us in the restaurant. We were sent to the bar for “snacks.” Fine — except when I ordered a simple salad, it arrived with 7 or 8 flies inside. Absolutely disgusting. After endless apologies from the staff, we left the whole experience questioning how on earth this hotel could top any global list.
Passalacqua may look like a dream, but the food and execution were a nightmare. Whoever is choosing the “50 Best” list needs a serious reality check. For me, this was not luxury hospitality — it was a scam dressed up in pretty gardens.
There are no words to describe how truly magical Passalacqua is. From the moment you enter the exquisite garden property and are greeted by the most delightful and courteous staff you are in a place like no other. Separate from the hustle and bustle of Lake Como, Passalacqua is sheer euphoria. The decor is truly unparalleled, a small museum - and the food is an art as well. Savor every moment!
Thank you Passalacqua, a birthday and Anniversary I will never forget!
About the positive aspects, I could write a book. This place should be #1 on the 50 hotels chart, not #2. I visited both and this is much superior. Hospitality is at its maximum, the whole team is perfectly trained. I never experienced this in Europe, only in the Middle East. Food perfect. Cleaning perfect. Design perfect. Nature aswell. You’ll see more in the photos.
On the negative side, just small things: the room had very low humidity, internet near the pool was a bit weak, and the shower smelled a little. Aside from this, everything was great. Congrats for what you’ve built, the experience was amazing.
Passalacqua delivers a true wow-effect from the very first moments. The historic villa and immaculate grounds are breathtaking, and my room — despite its classic style — was exceptionally comfortable and beautifully designed. Three fully opening windows brought in plenty of light and fresh air, the Wi-Fi worked flawlessly, and there was a well-stocked minibar, convenient sockets, and a beautiful full-height mirror.
A special highlight was the freshly brewed Americano available at the bar any time of day — no capsule machines here. Breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had in a hotel, with comfortable seating and excellent food. Dinner offered an unforgettable fine dining experience with spectacular views, and the entire F&B team deserves the highest praise.
The only minor downside was the older air-conditioning system, which cooled quite strongly even on warmer settings — but with the windows open at night, the fresh air made for a perfect sleep.
After having stayed at Passalacqua, I don't really understand how any search engine reviews could be less than 5 stars. The property itself is magnificent. They've somehow managed to combine understatement and opulent luxury, the beauty of nature with the beauty of art and architecture. Just sitting by the pool, gazing out at the lake and the mountains and across the amazingly manicured gardens - is to see beauty on many levels.
I was initially a bit apprehensive because I'd heard of some glitches with the service at this property. But honestly, I saw no sign of this. All the staff members were eager to help in any way they could, always with a suggestion and a smile. The housekeepers did such a thorough job we were blown away. They didn't just re-stock our mini-bar, for example, they took note of what we did and didn't drink the day before, and gave us more of what we used and less of what we didn't. They literally brushed out the tassels of the area rug every time they cleaned the room.
And as a side-note, we are high-maintenance guests because we keep a kosher diet. When I contacted the hotel and asked whether they could accommodate, they gave me several options, and they even have a separate prepared menu they designed just for any kosher guests they may have. They cordoned off an area of their kitchen, purchased new utensils, and brought in kosher meats and cheeses just so that we'd feel comfortable.
I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The only drawback is the cost (which is high), but if budgets allow, I'd highly recommend Passalacqua.
Passalacqua is stunning, absolutely idyllic. The elevated position, the glorious gardens, the stylish, no expense spared design and decoration - simply beautiful. I came for lunch and was warmly welcomed. Staff were wonderful - fun, friendly and unpretentious from start to finish. A perfect sunny day meant most diners opted for the outdoor terrace, enjoying its wraparound vistas over manicured grounds and the pretty town of Moltrasio.
Food was very good, as indeed it should be given the prices. You can go a la carte or choose from 2 short tasting menus (€250 or €350 respectively).
An indulgent but memorable experience.
