The setting was beautiful & the quality of the food was good
The service did not match the price point - it was impersonal & perfunctory.
The exterior, the architecture and the calm atmosphere.
Unfortunately, the level of service did not meet the standards expected from a five-star hotel, especially considering the price per night.
The hotel itself is beautiful, but our overall experience was quite difficult and disappointing. Upon arrival, no one came to welcome us or explain how to reach the reception, which was particularly confusing since vehicle access to the hotel is not possible.
The reception door remained locked, so whenever we needed assistance, we had to knock and wait for someone to respond. The food was average, and I would rate it around 6 out of 10. The pool also did not appear to be particularly clean.
In addition, several of the experiences and services advertised in the hotel description were unavailable, even though the hotel was far from full during our stay. The service was also very slow at times—we waited approximately 20 minutes just to receive a Coca-Cola.
Overall, the property is visually impressive, but the service and guest experience require significant improvement to justify its five-star rating and price.

The setting is everything we hoped for. Vestige Son Vell is a genuinely beautiful restoration — old stone, working terraces, an estate that feels lived-in rather than staged.
The location is exceptional: minutes from the Camí de Cavalls coastal trail, close enough to the sea that it’s a constant presence throughout the stay. We swam, walked the trail at sunrise, and spent long afternoons on the terrace without ever feeling the need to leave the grounds.
Dinner at Vermell was a real highlight — confident, well-executed food clearly built around what the island produces. Lunch at Sa Clarisa, slow and sun-drenched, was exactly the long Mediterranean midday meal we’d hoped for.
We’ll be back — this is a property worth returning to, and worth getting the service polish right.
The one area that needs attention: service speed and communication. Restaurant service moved slower than the quality of the food deserved, and English communication was a struggle at several points. Housekeeping had similar gaps — small missed details here and there. None of this felt unkind, more a training gap than anything else, but it’s worth Son Vell’s attention given how strong everything else about the property is.

Remote. It felt like we were the only people in the property at times even though it was completely booked.
The long skinny road to the property can be difficult to navigate when there’s any oncoming traffic. But it’s worth it when you arrive.
Incredibly historic and impeccable restoration. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food is superb and the grounds are impressive. Would love to see a better wine selection.
I’m not a fan of the new buildings; they disrupt the historic atmosphere somehow. Also, the cleaning staff were disorganized and left the room incomplete, even with quite a lot of dirt on the floors. Improvement needed there.
