A very friendly hotel, with friendly staff and excellent food.
Pros:

The staff were all lovely and very helpful. Although not an extensive menu, the food was very well prepared and presented and tasted very good. The room was very clean and the mattress very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and the shower worked well.

Cons:

The building had character, however the plumbing also had character, being quite noisy.
It was unfortunate that, as the weather was really warm and doors were open, a few flies visited the dining room at the same time as us.

A beautiful, traditional inn with comfortable rooms and great food.
Pros:

A lovely tradition inn, with an old-fashioned feel, but modern comforts and a superb chef! It's the exact opposite of a sterile chain hotel, full of character. The beautiful interior and friendly staff made this feel very welcoming and our room was clean and comfortable. I would definitely come here again.

Will happily stay here again
Pros:

A blissful stay in a serene village. Historic hotel kept to a high standard. The breakfast was excellent, especially the scrambled eggs which are better than homemade. The staff could not be more accommodating, they even swapped our duvet for a sheet in the heatwave. Beds are very comfortable and cotton bedding.

Loved our short stay in the village.
Pros:

Breakfast excellent. Very clean room.
Very quaint village

Cons:

Pillows a bit flat, we were in room 5 which could do with new blinds the cords don't work to tilt them.

Beautiful position, loved the village. Everyone friendly and helpful, staff and locals. Enjoyed our stay at the Black Lion immensely.

Pros:

The hotel is historic built in the 1300s and has lots of character. The family room we had was spacious. Well appointed and clean with an en suite. The breakfast served with our stay was very nice.

Cons:

The restaurant food for the evening meal was mediocre.

The staff were pleasant and helpful, the food a bit hit and miss.
Pros:

The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. I had a burger for dinner, it was good.

Cons:

There was an issue with the sani-flow toilet. It kept making banging noises, on and off after it had been flushed. The staff came up to try and help, luckily it did stop after an hour, but then did it again in the morning. Breakfast was not very good scrambled egg was overcooked on dry toast.
