Beautiful looking property in a bad area and dealings with the property highlighted red flags and potential scam.

Booking.com advert seemed stunning! However I believe this is part of the scam.

Cons:

A common scam in Colombia is the use of direct bank transfers as prepayment for the property and then cancellation or property being closed or unavailable on arrival. This happened to us and the property agreed to allow us to pay by card at the property. Before arrival they said “the town had water issues and they couldn’t house us”. However the coffee shop below said there was no issue. The hotel offered to house us in a 5 bedroom villa nearby. Nearby meaning 20 minutes walk out of town. This is another common scam in Colombia where they will then cancel the original booking and hold you accountable for the difference in value of the 5 bedroom villa over 2 reasonably priced bedrooms. Operator on WhatsApp seemed friendly but the whole experience screamed scam.

Cons:

Que fuera una casa compartida y no lo dicen, los colchones duros y las almohadas incómodas para dormir. No cuidan los detalles, la casa es bonita pero descuidada. Inicialmente habíamos hecho la reserva en un hotel pero ese mismo día nos cambiaron de alojamiento, lo cual luego vi en los comentarios que sucedio con más personas.hay una cocina la cual tiene un costo de 30 mil pesos en caso de usarla. Los armarios descuidados que no encajaban las puertas y sucios. Falta de higiene en baños, ventanas y en general.
