The location is amazing
The rooms and hotel are dingy and dirty. We didn’t want to stay in our room. Paid £20 for an upgrade and the other room was bigger but still bad. Bathroom light didn’t work, room carpet was filthy, hallway smelt of old cigarettes and was rundown. The shower screen in the bathroom was broken so when you showered the room flooded. Had a general feel of run down and grubby.
We'd booked a deluxe room and it was spacious, clean, comfortably furnished with a very good view of the harbour. The staff were all lovely, polite and friendly. There's a fair amount of nightlife with live music and people enjoying themselves but it didn't disturb us or keep us awake at night at all. There are lots of things in Ramsgate to do and see, we hadn't been there in a long while so it was a rediscovery with other places to visit not too far away.
We enjoyed our time there and would definitely be happy to stay there again.
There was nothing we didn't like about our stay at The Royal Oak Hotel.
The Guy on Reception upgraded our room to a Family Room instead of a twin room.
The Room was not clean, the skirtings etc were dirty.
One window had a broken brass piece, it was sitting on the window sill.
In the Bathroom the toilet felt like you were going to go through the ceiling when you sat on it.
The shower had no bottom seal to it to stop the water going on the floor so the floor got very wet, slip hazard.
It was dated and dirty.
I know that it has new ownership and I respect it is probably a lot to take on but it could have been cleaner.
