Lovely hotel but bizarre check in policy for UK residents

Cons:

Constant requests for photographic ID despite multiple stays and having only travelled 40 miles to the hotel. Almost a refusal to allow my son and myself to stay as the booking was made ( as it always is ) by my wife / secured with my own card and I am a Marriott member.
