This hotel claims to be 5-star, but the level of security was unacceptable. On several evenings, including late at night, unidentified men without hotel uniforms or name badges knocked on my door. Once it was apparently an electrician who had the wrong room; on other occasions, I was told it was room service I had never ordered.
Even worse, the phone in my room did not work, so at midnight I had to go to reception in person to report the situation. The staff acted as if they knew nothing about it and showed little concern. There was also a persistent sewage smell in the room, which made the stay extremely unpleasant. Since the windows cannot be opened, there was no way to properly ventilate the room or get rid of the smell. These are simply not conditions or standards you would expect from a 5-star hotel.
I really loved the whole breakfast experience. If you are a person like me - that enjoys mornings the most in the hotel - I am sure this one will be up to your expectations. Enchanté bistro that serves breakfast is very beautiful, the variety of food was satisfactory for me, it was all delicious and safe (I didn´t have any stomach issues). And as it´s always about the people - I really loved the staff serving me during breakfast. There were two super nice girls (I wish I remembered names) that were so sweet, always smiled and were very helpful. Generally, staff was really nice. I liked my room as well, it was clean, spacious and aesthetic. There were many towels, fresh water, a selection of teas and coffee. The TV was working well, I was able to watch Netflix.
There were a few small "incidents" that left a bit sour taste in my mouth. Firstly, I didn´t like being bothered during the late evening hours. There were two times when around 21:30 and 19:00 a man knocked on my door and offered "room service" when I didn´t ask for any. I found it a bit disturbing, especially given it was a guy. And then during check out, I was asked to pay a bill of around 150 dolars for a SPA treatment (I haven´t even been in the SPA) and a beverage (I didn´t order anything). I think that things like this shouldn´t happen at a 5* hotel, even though it was settled quickly when I told them it´s a mistake.
It was a very clean and tidy hotel and the deco of the hotel was just like its name Gem. We had a very comfortable stay and the staff were extremely polite and friendly. Their Spa was excellent. It was walking distance to Village Market and Gigiri Courtyard which was great. The security at the hotel was very good and thorough.
I couldn’t fault anything at the hotel.

Beautiful property with really interesting design and very comfortable beds. We mentioned upon booking that it was our honeymoon and the staff made it so special for us - we were upgraded to the suite and had surprises in our room. The hotel itself was stunning and we made use of the bar and pool while we stayed. We enjoyed dinner at the Troy restaurant. Lovely selection of toiletries and best shower we’ve ever been in.
There were some features in our suite that we couldnt get working, such as the wireless charger and Bose surround sound.
