The main drawback has nothing to do with the property: The lack of safe, clean, available drinking water in Old Town Rethymno was a major drawback for me. Constantly asking the staff for refills of bottled water -- which I did, and they provided -- was an inconvenience. Likewise, the Old Town is generally loud, hot, and crowded. For those who like Venice, this is a little Venice, with a beach instead of canals or lagoon -- Rethymno was a former Venetial colony and ironically, centuries after their political separation, the tourist experience is somewhat reminiscent: Big crowds, a tourist center with little other local activity, decent accommodations without surpassing quality, and the inconvenience of a downwardly mobile economic environment. Find the locals and see what they are doing nearby at the large graffiti-filled square behind the minaret and you will see how little there is for locals besides tourism. But the town is charming and this hotel recommended for those looking for a beach holiday.

Η πισίνα που ήταν υπερβολικά μικρή και δεν την έβλεπε ο ήλιος ούτε είχε ξαπλώστρες να χαλαρώσεις. Μόνο τραπεζάκια.

Το μόνο που θα μπορούσαμε να αναφέρουμε ειναι η τοποθεσία των ποτηριών κάτω από την σκάλα θα ήταν πολύ πιο υγιεινό να ήταν τοποθετημένα σε ένα ντουλάπι για να μην πέφτουν σκόνες.

A noter toutefois : les chambres ne sont pas toutes aussi lumineuses que sur les photos et le petit déjeuner n'est pas réalisé sur place (et peut être pris facilement à l'extérieur).

Unser Zimmer, eine sogn. „Junior Suite“ im Erdgeschoss, war nicht das, was wir erwartet haben. Klein, sehr dunkel, Tageslicht kaum vorhanden. Frühstück wurde durch einen Lieferservice bereitgestellt - das war mittelmäßig.

Si vous voulez de l’intimité ou si vous avez besoin de vous reposer il faut éviter les chambres aux rdc car l’isolation n’est pas bonne.

Communication from the staff could be improved to make this feel like an actual luxury stay. I assume this is a family run business and the owners were all very nice but the first day our room was not made up even if we were away for most of the day. The second day we explicitly asked for it and the room was nicely cleaned. The reception told us to have the tag “make up the room” hung outside, but we were not informed that this was the procedure at check in. We were also asked if we needed extra pillows, we said yes, but there were no extra pillows when we got back. Small things that could be improved with more effective communication. Another example, the guy hanging downstairs at the reception rarely greeted us when we walked by, although he was very nice and he accommodated all our requests.
In addition, the door of the bathroom did not close properly, and the blinds were not really blocking the light so it gets quite bright early in the morning.

Situé au rez-de-chaussée à côté de la réception, sans aucune ouverture sur l'extérieur, on a le sentiment d'être dans une caverne..... impossible de lever les rideaux côté réception car on risque d'être vus. Le lieu devient vite oppressant et aucune discussion possible avec le gérant.
