The breakfast was amazing, the staff were lovely and the location was great.
There was an inaccurate description of the room. It was said to have a 'courtyard view'. The window actually looked onto a heating duct void. The door to a very small balcony in the heating duct was permanently locked - but appropriately so as it was about a 20 meter drop onto the heating system. Requested a room change, but the hotel was fully booked. So no natural light or air flow into the room at any point.
I was really looking forward to staying in this beautiful old stone building in Mellieħa’s historic centre. I booked a Deluxe Double Room as a birthday surprise for my husband, specifically choosing this category over the Standard Double Room because of the charm, character and spaciousness shown in the photos on Booking.com.
Unfortunately, the reality was a huge disappointment.
The room I was given was a small, modern bedroom in a separate building opposite the original hotel, which has been refurbished to accommodate several rooms marketed as “Standard” and “Deluxe”. Instead of the historic stone walls, beautiful high ceilings of around three metres and spacious bedroom I had expected, we found ourselves in a modern, cramped room with a completely different feel. My husband could literally touch the ceiling with his hand, and the bathroom was so small that two people could barely fit inside at the same time.
To be clear, I have absolutely no issue with modern rooms. The problem is paying for a particular room category based on its advertised character and features, only to receive something entirely different. If I had wanted a room with the feel of a standard chain hotel, I would have booked one. The fact that the hotel considers these rooms to be the same category is, in my opinion, extremely misleading. They are worlds apart in terms of style, atmosphere and overall experience.
What made the situation even more frustrating was the way the hotel handled my complaints. I had to raise the issue three times before they eventually offered a €50 voucher for the restaurant downstairs, which they partner with to provide breakfast to guests. While I appreciated the gesture, it was disappointing that it took so much insistence to receive any acknowledgement of the problem. Ultimately, what I wanted was the room quality I had specifically chosen and paid for, not a restaurant voucher.

Wir haben das Superiorzimmer mit Jacuzzi im Gebäude gegenüber gehabt und es war perfekt!
Das Zimmer selbst ist etwas klein, aber die Terrasse mit dem Ausblick über den Hauptplatz und die Kirche ist sensationell!!!
Der Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption war unglaublich zuvorkommend, kompetent und nett!!!
Das dazugehörende Bistro SQUARE, in dem auch das gute Frühstück serviert wird, ist auch zum Mittagessen und Abendessen absolut zu empfehlen und das Personal war auch wirklich sehr freundlich!!!

La posizione è invidiabile. Una delle persone che lavora in questo hotel è stato per noi un supporto importante. Si chiama Borislav, straordinario, empatico e di grande aiuto.
Siamo stati due notti. La prima l’abbiamo trascorsa in una camera davvero molto piccola, nonostante la nostra prenotazione fosse per una camera Deluxe.
La camera si trova direttamente sopra un bar/bistro: non è stato possibile dormire per il volume eccessivo della musica. Nei due giorni in cui siamo stati a Mellieha c’era un festival con fuochi di artificio e bande musicali. Pensavamo che ad una certa ora tutto si fermasse e invece no. Il mio suggerimento è di fare attenzione alle feste o ricorrenze.
We hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad bij Doms Boutique Living. Gelegen aan het mooiste plein in Mellieha. We hadden een klein probleempje, maar deze werd door Borislav onze gastheer meteen naar tevredenheid opgelost. De kamer was schitterend, bedden sliepen heerlijk en de kamer werd perfect bijgehouden door Kul. In het restaurant aan de overzijde van het hotel genoten we iedere dag weer van een uitgebreid ontbijt. Extra fijn was het zwembad bovenop het hotel. Mellieha zelf vonden wij zelf niet zo bijzonder, maar de stranden waren heerlijk. Ga zeker ook naar de stranden in de buurt zoals Little Armier Bay. Al met al zeker de moeite waard om hier te verblijven.
