Umutuzo Lodge Kivu Lake

Sehr schöne Lodge direkt am See mit schönem Garten und Pool, sehr ruhig. Sehr freundliches Personal.

Here is everything I liked about my stay:
-Setting & Atmosphere: I loved the beautiful, peaceful setting and the incredible views—it was such a fantastic destination for a relaxing getaway.
-Cleanliness: The lodge was kept very clean throughout my stay.
-Hospitality & Staff: I felt so welcomed by the local community, and the staff were exceptionally polite, helpful, and kind. I really appreciated how genuinely and promptly they handled any hiccups.
-Food: The food was delicious across the board, and the local tilapia was definitely a highlight for me!
-Room Features: My room was nice and spacious, with great views and fantastic amenities—including a bathtub, an indoor shower, a separate toilet, and even an outdoor shower.
-Local Activities: I really enjoyed exploring the surrounding area on foot, taking a boat out on the lake to see the local fishermen, and learning how local banana wine is made.

The food was excellent, specially the fish filet. The breakfast was also amazing.
The view is breathtaking, we did not want to leave.
The staff was very welcoming and helped us find the place.

Sehr schöne Lodge direkt am See, sehr ruhige Lage, aufmerksames und freundliches Personal, ein Ort zum Auftanken, mit diversen Aktivitäten auf Wunsch.

It is a long way from main road, but once there you are in "heaven". The bay is beautiful, the people are very welcoming and friendly. You will not regret your booking here. Everybody was very helpful and what I liked was having dinner on one big table with all guests. I met some really nice people.

This lodge is one of my all-time favorite stays! I had a fantastic time there for four days.

The lodge itself was spacious and tastefully decorated. But the highlight of my stay was the exterior shower on the terrace. It was the perfect way to wake up and enjoy the breathtaking view of Lake Kivu.

The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The owner, Philippe, went above and beyond to make me feel at home during my stay. Starting with interesting/deep conversations, to having dinner together (I was the only guest 1 night) He even helped me with my transportation back to Kigali, even though it wasn’t his responsibility since I had booked the service with another provider.

I highly recommend this place and would definitely go back in a heartbeat.

A lovely lodge close to Lake Kivu, offering scenic views, a calm atmosphere, and a truly serene setting. The modern design is fresh and thoughtful, yet blends beautifully with the surrounding nature. Newly established, the lodge feels authentic and carefully created rather than superficial.

The owner is incredibly supportive of the local community and exceptionally helpful with anything you may need. You can feel the care and thoughtfulness behind every detail.

We absolutely loved it and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and authentic stay near Lake Kivu.

Nous avons passé un merveilleux séjour en famille chez Philippe au Umutuzo Lodge Kivu Lake. Mon épouse, nos deux fils Ilan (6 ans) et Aaron (5 mois), et moi avons particulièrement apprécié l'accueil chaleureux, le cadre magnifique et la tranquillité des lieux. Le petit-déjeuner était parfait, varié et généreux, et le chef de cuisine était toujours à l'écoute de nos souhaits et très accommodant pour toute demande supplémentaire. Un petit lit bébé aurait été un plus, mais nous nous y attendions et cela n'a en rien diminué la qualité de notre séjour. Nous repartons avec de très beaux souvenirs et recommandons vivement cette adresse.

Very friendly welcome by Philippe and his team. The 4,5 hours trip from Kigali is challenging due to the relentless hairpin bends, but the lakeside location is gorgeous and the quality of the lodges is superb.

Die Zimmer/Häuser sind sehr geschmackvoll, riesing und hochwertig gebaut, schmiegen sich in den Hang und die Aussicht ist einfach herrlich. Die Außendusche mit Aussicht auf den See! Mit dem Hauseigenen Boot kann man Ausflüge buchen. Das Personal war freundlich. Ausflüge zu Kaffeerösterei und Familie, die Bananebier herstellt waren sehr informativ, der Preis angemessen.
