Good appearance, fine location, easy walk to town.
I found the room decor to be very over-the-top, almost garish. I am not claustrophobic but during the night I had a seriously disturbing reaction to the intensely patterned wallpaper, I felt the walls of the room were closing in around me resulting in very poor sleep.

Location
Poor service and recent upgrade was of poor quality. Fittings in the room were cheap, the room safe was not bolted down and could be easily moved/lifted, dirty towel from previous occupants hung up behind the door, shower tray slippery (no mat) and gaps between shower controls and the fake tiles!

Beautiful place. I was afraid because of the comments that the dinner and the breakfast wouldn’t be good, but it was excellent! The hotel was furnished scottish style but it was fully renovated, beautiful.

Its a lovely traditional styled hotel. The receptionist who welcomed me late on Wednesday July 1st was excellent and arranged a sandwich for me although the kitchen was closed after my flight was delayed.
Not all staff were warm and friendly. Most were but a bit more smiling would help the vibe. The gents loos by the bar (snooker table end entrance) were not kept clean. On the Saturday night the waste paper towel bin was overflowing. At £300 per night I expect some thoroughness in cleanliness.
