Beautiful hotel and the surrounding area was too. Bar food was excellent. Staff were lovely. Room was beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. We will definitely come back soon.
Food was generally good
Mini bar had not been cleaned still an half used champagne bottle inside, and free toiletries appeared part used and not replaced. Bed was too soft for my liking and there was no desk in the room to work at despite receiving an upgrade to a king from a double.
Great old building with character
We were allocated an ‘accessible’ room with wet room en suite and handheld shower hose. Had booked a standard double
Loved the room bright and airy. Breakfast was delicious. Proximity to the town and beach was great.
Prachtig hotel, fantastische entree en hele mooie kamers. Goede service, uitstekend eten. En de locaties is ook fantastisch
The location is great for golf and to walk on the beach. The downstairs bar was enjoyable for the evening. Rooms were
We were only there for one night. Felt a bit tired even though it was newly renovated. I thought it was expensive for what it was.
Great location and comfortable room
It was busy and staff under pressure. Some additional staff in bar and restaurant at busy times would help speed service .
We had dog with us and most hotels of this standard who welcome dogs give doggie pack (biscuits/bags/toy or dry mitts ) perhaps consider for future?
Location ,good public areas very pleasant, with lots of quiet setting areas. And nice outdoor seating area with views towards sea.
Not enough staff… 1hr wait before starter came, then another 1hr before main, were given a portion of chips whilst waiting, with no explanation..?
Had to call and speak to receptionist to get our room serviced- a quick restock at 1800….
King room is a standard Double at best, decent fittings and we both liked the bed comfort. As others mentioned lack of drawers for clothes.. money has been spent on refurbishing, but missing chest of drawers seems a rather obvious oversight.
I would also ask if any weddings are on during planned stay … we felt we had been invited … noisy..!
Dining area too small-we didn’t bother waiting for breakfast prior to leaving-approx 10 in front of us waiting to be seated.
Hotel has potential but without more staff -especially it seems at weekends and during the golf season think our experience would be fairly common..
Not much
One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in! When we checked in, the bathroom in the room we were given was dirty. We had to ask for it to be cleaned, as there were no other rooms available, and we were left waiting for over an hour and a half! And they only came because we insisted!
The room simply telephone doesn’t work for contacting reception or housekeeping; if we need anything, we have to go down to reception or ring them from a public/external telephone/mobile!
On the third day of our stay, there was a wedding at the hotel!! The hotel has no facilities or specific area for events. As a result, the wedding guests took over the entire premises, from the lobby to the lounges, bar, balcony etc. The hotel guests simply had nowhere to sit or chat!!!
Worse still, the hotel has no quiet hours policy (and doesn’t comply with Scottish legislation on noise reduction after 11 pm!!).
We were stuck in the middle of a complete racket all night until 1 am!! With loud music and the wedding guests, already completely drunk (at least a good number of them), shouting and causing a racket both inside and outside the hotel building – it’s worth noting that the room windows don’t seem to be soundproofed, and guests (including the elderly and children) simply couldn’t sleep!!!
It was utterly ridiculous!!
And finally, the hotel staff are horrible and show no interest or concern for the guests!
I’ll never go back to Dornoch Station, and I recommend you look for somewhere else to stay if you’re coming to Dornoch!
It’s a great hotel and is at a fantastic location. The amenities are great and I love the design of the rooms. It’s expensive but worth it in my eyes.
The noise insulation of the rooms isn’t amazing. The lady in the restaurant was very rude. All other staff are absolutely lovely.
General ambience,location, spacious.
Breakfast options and food/variety.
De ligging en het uitzicht

Friendly staff, great location
Comfortable bed, nice pub, very dog friendly!
Nothing
Good quality fixtures and fittings. Elegant surroundings.
There did not seem to be enough staff to offer the standard of service expected for the price range. Rooms were not available until after 6pm. Breakfast service was very slow.
The location is beautiful and the bar areas and stunning to relax in.
