Nice design and location but needs improvement
Pros:

The design, it’s a nicely decorated hotel in a very central location, coffee available in reception area.

Cons:

Air conditioning did not work, we reported and were told that it would take time to work, later on we came back in the evening and it was only making noise, with over 30 degrees, it was very inconfortable to stay and sleep (no one was in reception after 5 pm to report once again) The shower also needs some maintenance.

Very satisfactory if you are looking for a no-frills place to stay in Sofia.
Pros:

Hotel 36 was close to everything to do in sofia, within a 10 min walk. Also very close to public transportation.
Despite being in a main road we found it quiet at night to sleep, though it may be because the air conditioning was on and drowned out street noise.
The beds were quite comfortable and the mini-fridge in the room was great. Also we enjoyed the coffee machine in the lobby.
Price per night was also very reasonable.

Cons:

Cleanliness was lacking. It was very clear that the room was not cleaned well before we arrived- the bathroom floor had dirt and the soap in the shower was practically empty upon arrival. We had to specifically ask the cleaning lady to vacuum, otherwise she would not have.
Staff was also lacking- I saw the staff once upon arrival and after that not at all- no one is in the building after 16:00.
The hotel encourages you to use this app-bot thing online to answer questions, it was not very useful for out of the box questions, like when you realize you have no soap to shower at 21:00, though we did use it to order a taxi to go to the airport. As such, I would not call it a hotel, but rather guests rooms.
Also, be warned, the air conditioning did not go below 25 degrees C in the room and took a long time to kick in. If you are accustomed to Western standards of AC this is not it. I am not sure if this is Bulgarian standards or the on the hotel.

Pros:

The location is near the key Metro station of Serdika, which means you have all the city at hand. The structure looks as to have been recently renovated; its design shows the touch of some clever interior architect, mixing some remains of the original building with furnitures and bathroom equipment of modern design. Very nice shower cabin (but slippery tray).
Excellent and kind assistance from Svetla at reception desk.

Cons:

Air conditioning inside my room was not performing good: temperature did never go below 26 /25 degrees, though control unit was set 20. The reception desk is manned just temporarly from 9.00 to 17.00 , but it seems that it is not always the case, at least during the weekend

Very helpful receptionist, AC wasn't working in our room, but the lady receptionist pulled out all the stops and moved us into different rooms.
Brilliant

Cons:

Coffee machine could be abit more topped up.
Wasn't milk on certain occasions.

Pros:

The location is great with lovely places to eat out nearby.
The room was great, good hairdryer, nice bathroom
Staff very helpful (i forgot my charger and they kept it for some friends to come pick it)

Cons:

It was noisy because it is next to a main road.
There was no shower gel when i arrived in the middle of the night.
But not much of an issue
