April1550 Boutique Hotel

This was the best hotel stay I’ve ever experienced. The April Ladies took such wonderful care of me during my solo trip to Ljubljana, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. Every member of staff was warm, kind, and genuinely helpful, and the breakfast was exceptional—beautifully prepared with locally sourced ingredients and so much care.

I can’t praise them highly enough and would love to return. Thank you for making my stay so memorable.

L'hôtel est bien placé dans la zone piétonne et permet de visiter à pied le centre historique de Ljubljana, pas besoin de voiture ! L'accueil a été parfait, l'équipe est super gentille et la propriétaire Nataša parle même français (et bien d'autres langues). Le petit-déjeuner est fait maison et délicieux. Les chambres mixent avec goût l'ancien et le moderne. Si on retourne un jour à Ljubljana (ville très intéressante à visiter, soit dit en passant), c'est au April1550 que nous logerons.

The hotel was maybe the best which we have visited ever. We have travelled a lot but the overall experience was amazingly wonderful. Any words are not enough to discrape it. It started when we arrived at 10h00am (due to our flying schehule), we we given coplipentary coffee, biscuit and juicy, they even told that we could take breakfast (we did not, because had had breakfast in business class in airplane). We were able to check into our room just after ten, even though the official check-in time wasn't until three. The room was decorated with excellent style—perhaps with a subtle Scandinavian touch—creating a serene atmosphere that respected the historic building. It was wonderful to enjoy a bottle of champagne on the balcony overlooking the lovely courtyard after a day of walking. The service was impeccable every day, from morning till night. The hotel’s location was perfect, offering immediate access to the walk up to the fortress overlooking Ljubljana. We plan to return to this hotel, as the hotel experience itself was nothing short of perfection.

The staff and owner were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was spacious and comfortable and looked out on the courtyard. The breakfast was a delight featuring Slovenian delicacies each morning. We'd be happy to stay again.

We had the best breakfast and loved our talks with the ladies working there. All the staff was so helpful and we had a terrific start. We would definitely stay at April1550 again. :)

It was so adorable. Very clean, very welcoming, every detail was perfect! The breakfast was to die for. How are more people not talking about this?? A fresh breakfast made by the owner and chef with local sourced food. So good!

After a gruff taxi ride from the airport b/c our luggage took too long to come off the plane, we had a welcomed surprise arriving at April 1550 with a warm greeting and attentive staff serving us wonderful coffees in the courtyard soon after! That they were also flexible enough to honor a late room request added to our relief that our stay in Ljubljana and April 1550 specifically was well chosen and as advertised! The beds were comfortable and the breakfast buffet was much more than we expected, just lovely. The location was convenient and the restaurant suggestion for nearby pizza was excellent! Going above and beyond Natasa reached out to us quickly when they found I had forgotten something in the room and we were able to circle back to retrieve it and have another lovely conversation with her. We can't say enough good things about our stay and will refer all friends and family :-)

Overall this was probably the best hotel experience we have ever had. It was outstanding in every way. The historic building lies in a quiet quarter of the old town and has been beautifully restored with a fine attention to detail. There is also a lovely internal courtyard where you can sit out. Another feature is the breakfast spread which is home cooked, varies from day to day, and includes an array of locally-sourced produce. But most important of all there is the presence of Natasa and her staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Their friendly, warm but professional attitude made this a welcoming and special place to enjoy. We hope to return.

I have stayed in the full range of accommodations, from campgrounds at national parks, to indigenous eco lodges in Thailand, to your standard large hotel chains, to ultra-premium, ultra-luxury resorts consistently ranked among the world’s best. April 1550 went directly to top of my list for accommodation experiences. It eclipsed all other experiences! Over our five-night stay, the owner, Nataša, was there daily. She checked in on us in unobtrusive ways, provided (what I consider to be) extra services to us without our asking, and was happy to tell us about the local city and culture when we asked. The remaining staff members were also exceptional. The property is stunning and one-of-a-kind (8 or so total rooms). Breakfast is absolutely Do-Not-Miss! They use all local and seasonal ingredients, offer a wide range of options, and offer at least two (one savory and one sweet) traditional dishes each morning (none repeated during our stay). Everything about this property was perfect – even down to the hairdryer. [I have never stayed anywhere that offered a high-quality hair dryer and have always just accepted that as a fact of life. It is not a fact of life here!] April 1550 set a brand-new standard of excellence for us. We cannot imagine being satisfied with anything else in the future. We will return to April 1550 and Ljubljana!

Our stay was wonderful - just as nice as the ratings would suggest. The breakfast was super delicious and all regionally sourced. The staff went to great efforts to make our stay as memorable as possible. Also great location in the old town of Ljubljana!
