Sadly no longer a five star hotel, and am surprised it’s within the Chateaux Relais group.
Pros:

We like the indoor and outdoor pools, the communal rooms and the garden. We liked that you can park the car there.

Cons:

Our room Begonia needs updating, the carpet was wrinkled the furniture was tired, the shower was a tiny box, boiling hot water came out of the COLD tap! The loo seat doesn’t fit on the loo. Paint peeling round the shower. There was an old air cooler thing that was so noisy and didn’t produce any cold air, that we couldn’t use it.
On the first day for breakfast we had to wait 20 minutes for a cup of tea and coffee!
Their saving grace are the indoor and outdoor pools, the spa and the terrace overlooking the garden.

A small hotel that seems to be cost cutting, which shows in places, charging 5 star prices for for poor value for money
Pros:

Parking was good as Bath is difficult to park in. The fine dining meal was lovely. The Spa area although small was kept clean and tidy, the outdoor heated pool a lovely bonus on a hot day. Reception staff very helpful and a god resource, as were the bar and spa staff.

Cons:

The room we had was comfortable especially the bed and bedding.
The 2 rooms we and our relatives had needed updating, especially in the bathrooms. The toilet cistern leaked when flushed luckily only clean water. The skirting boards were scuffed. This is a pricy hotel and this should not be acceptable.
The portable air conditioning unit was quite noisy but had to be used in this hot weather.
The shower over the bath was difficult to get into if you weren’t nimble. A bit dangerous as the bath surrounds very wide, walk in showers would be safer for all, and a lot easier to use.
The mainly young staff serving at breakfast didn’t really know how to run the service. The service was very was slow as it was all waiter served. Only 4 half slices of toast were brought to our table of 4 people at any time, this wastes time as we had to keep asking for it to be topped up. Also butter seemed to be rationed at breakfast only tiny portions of breakfast preserves and butter supplied, ok they were brought when asked for, it was irritating after 4 days of this. Egg cups also not available for soft boiled eggs which made them difficult to eat.

Bathroom. No countertop space. Tired decor. Bed not comfortable. No mini fridge in a 900 squre foot accomadation.
