A lovely place to stay
Pros:

The style of the rooms - excellent.
NB Need to make clear that breakfast is not served on the premises but at a nearby restaurant

Cons:

Slightly dismal entrance. Was worried about what might be within but very pleasantly surprised as rooms are very stylish and very comfortable

We expected better than this
Pros:

The location near Llandaff Cathedral was perfectly suited to our needs. The bathroom was larger than we expected, though the bedroom was smaller. We were fortunate in finding street parking nearby (there is no customer parking).

Cons:

This describes itself as a boutique hotel. In no way does it measure up to that description. It is a pub with rooms. On checking in, we had to wait in the uncomfortable downstairs bar until the only employee (while friendly enough) had finished serving pub customers. Other disappointments included the steepness of the stairs leading up to the top floor, with inadequate handrails, one of which was broken and dangerous. We were told that there was milk available in a fridge down the corridor from our room. There was no milk in the fridge. The bathroom, while large, had a gloomy dark green panelled finish. The toilet paper holder was coming away from the wall and it was not possible to open or adjust the roll (fortunately there was a spare roll.). The cage enclosing the shower, while interesting to look at, has no door,, and water cascades onto the bathroom floor when the shower is in use. The pedestal basin is far too high for comfort. The large bath is mounted on a raised step — it would be better to have it sunk into the plinth. This makes it uncomfortable to get into, and quite difficult to get out of. There were no tissues provided in the bedroom, and the wardrobe was small. Pillows were very thick and very hard — a boutique room should provide soft pillows. The bed was comfortable on one side (my wife's) and rather less comfortable on my side. Perhaps the mattress needs renewing. The room was advertised as quieter, being away from the main road. However, first thing in the morning we were disturbed by the sound of multiple empty bottles being chucked out, followed shortly by noisy works (power cleaning, drilling, sawing, etc, complete with cement mixer) being carried out in the beer garden beneath our windows, and still in progress when we checked out two and a half hours later. Vouchers for use at the Bakery and Deli a few minutes' walk away were supposed to be in the folder on the dressing table, but were absent.

A great stay in a wonderful old building with exceptional staff.
Pros:

The bar, restaurant and outside areas are well maintained and the bedroom and bathroom were exceptional.

Cons:

The stairway up to the cocktail bar and the bedrooms need to be worked on.

Pros:

Good location, clean and generous rooms, nicely furnished, comfortable bed and good view. The bar downstairs was great too.
The partnered bakery was very friendly and excellent for breakfast.

Cons:

The bathroom is very generous but impractical; washstand and mirror definitely designed by a man - very high; no hooks for towels near the unintuitive, complex multi-levered shower - instructions would be helpful- or place for soap near the huge bath.

The accommodation is of a reasonable standard but the restaurant and pub is lovely
Pros:

Staff were polite and friendly.
The room was a good size with a large bathroom attached
Linens were good
The restaurant and pub are excellent. Food thoroughly enjoyable and fairly priced

Cons:

The accommodation is really best described as rooms above a pub/restaurant rather than a boutique hotel
The room was bitterly cold on arrival as the heating wasn't turned on
No parking
No onsite option for breakfast
