Very nice apartment in a fantastic location. Everything was only a few minutes walk from the apartment. Ideal for anyone who wants to avoid walking longer distances, also the area felt very safe and there were numerous places to eat nearby. Would definitely stay again when visiting Palermo!
Ottima pulizia. Siamo state molto bene. Consigliato per coppia con bambini.
Il salone centrale è un pò buio, manca la luce diurna. Ma ben risolto con luce artificiale.
• The fridge is not extremely small, so you can store a decent amount of groceries.
• The kitchen has everything necessary.
• The apartment actually looks very nice and is well decorated.
• There is an excellent gelato place nearby called Belli Freschi Gelati.
• The host is polite in communication and responds relatively quickly to questions. I was actually very satisfied until the issue with the city tax happened.
• The host tried to charge a city tax of €4 per day for the entire 7-night stay for two people, which came to €56. However, on Booking.com the city tax amount shown was €32. According to Sicilian law, the tax is indeed €4, but it is charged for a maximum of 4 nights — any additional nights should not be charged. I will also attach a screenshot of the message he sent me.
• The entrance door is opened with a code, which is the same code used to access the apartment complex gate, which is fine. The problem is that there is NO way to lock the apartment from the inside, meaning anyone with the tag or code can enter. That honestly terrified me. The only thing you can lock is a regular partition door between the kitchen and bedroom area with a simple key.
• There is absolutely no sound insulation between the bathroom and the room — you can literally hear everything. Also, the sleeping area is on a loft made of wooden boards without insulation, while the bathroom is directly underneath, so all the humidity and smells from showering rise up. Even the openings are not insulated. There was a very strong smell of mold and dampness, and it was unpleasant to sleep in that smell. The loft cannot really air out even when the balcony doors are open. This was honestly the biggest issue. The constant smell of mold and humidity in the bed area was unbearable. I honestly don’t know why I didn’t complain and change rooms sooner — it only crossed my mind on the last night, after I spent the whole night in the living area because the smell was giving me a headache.
• The air conditioner in the living room clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time. I turned it on briefly to warm up the room, and the smell of mold, dampness, and dust filled the apartment. It became impossible to sleep. I’m attaching a photo.
• Cleanliness was mediocre — at first glance it looked tidy, but somehow still felt dirty. The couch smells damp, so your clothes absorb the smell while sitting on it.
Very roomy with good facilities in a great location
The smell from the bathroom plumbing and poor quality bedding
Nahe Zentrum, leichter Zugang mit Code, gute Kaffeemaschine. Wlan
Wenig Licht, Blick auf kleinen Hinterhof von Küche, kein Fenster im Schlafzimmer, ein.wrnog feucht.
Beschreibung von Appartement Ruggero 2
There was no breakfast. We liked the location.
The coffee pot was difficult to figure out, and more toilet paper in the bathroom would have been appreciated.
Good bed, good blackout shutters, great location
Sofa/mattresses in living area smelt like they had been slept on directly and not washed, or like someone had smoked in there and they needed cleaning or something. They smelt like they had been sprayed with Febreze or similar to cover the smell which made it worse. I am very sensitive to smells, so perhaps not an issue with others, who knows. Not an issue I have experienced anywhere else to memory though, and I travel widely. As I paid significantly more than other options in Palermo to get somewhere I thought would be nice, I found this extra disappointing. I paid for an apartment, but didn´t feel comfortable using the living space due to this. Admittedly I could have told hosts this on arrival, but I just didn´t want the disturbance and to deal with the conflict which might have made me even more annoyed if not properly resolved.
Then I was also awoken twice in the night for long periods which meant I had v little sleep at this location too - once someone rang the buzzer endlessly at 4:30am. The following night there was also a fight in the hallway outside with people physically /verbally threatening each other. Presumably the same people perhaps. Not exactly the apartments fault, but of course not something you would get with a hotel or a good airbnb I think... and again something I have not experienced anywhere else until now to memory...but that said I had something similar with someone knocking endlessly on a door at 5am in the next place i went to!
So maybe its a Sicilian thing???
I dont get it... :D
