The Chetwynde - Self Check In HMO

The outside bin was overflowing and there was old chairs and a broken lawnmower dumped in the front lawn. The carpets need a deep clean. The rooms generally needed a clean with a stale smell and dirt & hair on the bathroom floors. The room was basic. There were no staff in sight for the 3 days/2 nights we were there.

No staff onsite. No room cleaning over a 2.5 week stay. Advertised as having breakfast onsite but there was nothing. Basically self-service.

Bed was awful
One thin pillow each
TV wasn't working on our first night
Dusty furniture and corners of the room
Infestation of small moths next to the bed that were landing on me whilst I was in bed
Rail in the wardrobe kept falling down as it would barely fit in the fixture

There was a fusty smell in the room and the carpet looked very dirty. Lighting was either bright or too dark. Windows were filthy and one didn't close properly. One of the curtains wasn't hung properly.
It was quite noisy - people talking till early hours. Walls must be quite thin.

Had to hold the part that switches from bath to shower in order to keep shower on and shower head did not stay attached to the wall so made it very difficult to wash my hair

There was a problem with getting the key. Information was not sent to the right phone number and because it was weekend, the contact phone number did not respond. Luckily we found someone to help (not staff) to contact the manager, but if not we would have been locked out of the accommodation. This place was better when it was a hotel and provided breakfast, rather than a HMO, but the hotel is now in a sad state. I hope they re-vitalise it.

Very old furniture,on description in king apartments was bath and hair dryer,but they does not exist in bathroom.The bedding didn't look like it had just been changed.Wallpaper is peeling everywhere.

On arrival there were no keys in the lockbox so had to ring contact number to gain access. The room was on the top floor and the only light and ventilation was a skylight. We left skylight open due to the heat in the room and had no sleep due to seagulls on the roof. Asked for fan next day so we could keep the window shut and was given and old dusty desk fan with a broken knob. The fixtures and fittings were generally old and tired. Only one out of two ceiling lights worked and the bedside lamp needed replacing. The floorboards were very noisy both inside the room and outside in the corridor. There was no bathmat for inside the bath to prevent sliding and the side of the bath was very high making it difficult to get in and out.
Overall disappointing and not worth the money.
