Fantastic grounds, small and friendly and great value for money. It’s a traditional hotel in an old building, so a bit of a maze but the rooms and fittings are high quality, the grounds are lovely and it feels peaceful. Not much more expensive than more modern budget chains, but worth the small amount extra for being able to feel much more relaxed and having a treat. Rooms exceptionally clean and spacious. Staff seem to take a pride in the hotel and their work.
Very nice
very clean
breakfast was not the best and wish we went room only
Staff were all friendly and helpful.
No lift so we had to carry suitcases down long corridor and upstairs. Whole place was clearly originally well appointed but now looking shabby. Carpets often had bit on them and needed vacuuming. Bedroom and dining room were cold when we arrived.
The staff were amazing
They shut the bar before the wedding whilst people were still queuing
Amazing location and grounds. Room was stunning.
Serving staff for evening meal were really slow and had to chase after 20 minutes to place our food and drinks order. It wasn’t even that busy, with only 5 tables occupied. Breakfast staff were much better.
Nice characterful hotel, beautiful gardens, very quiet, staff very pleasant and helpful, food good value and very tasty
Starting to look a bit tired, spa area was not appealing so didn’t bother using it, restaurant also a little tired, separate hot and cold taps in sink should be replaced by mixer tap, no lift and a very long walk to our room!
The is amazing and staff are friendly and helpful.
The venue itself is a lovely building and has been well maintained. The location is convenient for a number of places and attractions and relatively easy to get to from the M1. Reception is 24 hours which is helpful if you need to check in late after travelling from afar
The beds are atrocious. They are the softest mattresses I have ever used and gave as much support as a warm marshmallow. If you like a mattress with support then avoid this place.
I also repeatedly had issues with my key card with it being prematurely deactivated each day, which didn’t make for pleasant back and forth late at night. This happened each day of my stay.
The breakfast I felt was a bit subpar, though passable, but definitely needs improvement. Theres often not enough food for the guests meaning you have to wait and even then it was just okay - nothing exceptional
The rooms don’t have air conditioning - most likely due to listed status, but the fan provided is a small desk fan and is insufficient for a hot day like we’ve recently had. If there were more or larger fans available, this fact was not disclosed or advertised to us.
Place had lovely grounds and friendly staff
The whole place feels like it needs a clean.
Beautiful location. Gardens were lovely.
Clean and well presented
Staff friendly and helpful
Just a suggestion…….. have refillables for soaps etc. save some plastic!
Reception staff are lovely.
Rooms need an update. Electric point so far from bed had to move furniture to plug in cpap. Cold water tap ran lukewarm do couldn't have water to drink at night. Bath had no plug so couldn't have bath. Fixed shower head with one setting which was a weak flow. Really unsure why its rated 4 star and costs so much when everything is so worn out.
Perfect location for all the attractions chesterfield as to offer.
