It was an old style yet clean venue.
The breakfast was very basic and if there were more than 3/4 tables in the room at a time, the replacement of food very slow.
The hotel is set in large, attractive grounds and has an impressive, historic facade. It is not far from Chesterfield and other sites in the Peak District and is on a bus route.
Most of the staff were pleasant and tried to be helpful but were often incompetent, e.g. we were locked out of our room after 24 hours although we were booked in for 3 nights.
Parking was outside our room.
Our room, 408, was large, on the ground floor and opened directly from the courtyard which is a considerable distance from the main building. I was told this was a quiet room and it was, in terms of hotel noise, but the main road is just behind it. I felt security was a potential issue as there is direct easy access from this road into the courtyard and the rooms.
The room was very damp smelling, probably due to the shower which sprayed water everywhere, and the loose floor tile which trapped water beneath.
The room was very hot and the windows only opened a few inches. Several of the window catches did not work properly.
There was no WiFi at all in the room.
Service in the restaurant was disorganised and chaotic when busy due to large functions taking place. There was inadequate staffing for the number of hotel guests.
Although we raised the maintenance issues with reception, nothing was fixed.
The building looked nice food was lovely
How far away are room was. With myself having bad hips going up a flight of stairs to come back down. No wifi didn’t help. Taxi driver couldn’t find the entrance. I had a used towel in my room only 1 set of towels that were clean. Staff was Okie. Were helpful at breakfast with dietry requirements. Took afew times to remind them but got there. Just the walking from the room to entrance was just hard
The room was lovely, cute bath In room.
The windows didn't open and it's was very hot
Lovely venue, staff were very friendly and helpful 😀
Many people were smoking on the lovely veranda and just dropping fag butts on the floor as no ash trays, it looked really bad
Le lieu est très charmant, les chambres sont propres et le personnel était très gentil et à l’écoute. Bon séjour dans cet hôtel.
Beautiful build
Staff go up and beyond to help
The rooms are amazing
And the food fabulous
We had to wait our room wasn’t ready for 3
Loved the peaceful location. It was perfect for the wedding reception we visited and all the staff were amazing! I can’t thank them enough. The room was fantastic! I stayed all weekend and it was just perfect!
I would have liked to have used the pool as I feel £130 extra to access this is extremely expensive. I understand that this is a package but I just wanted the pool and no option is available for this. This did disappoint me as I thought access would be included in the price.
Lovely and obliging staff on reception and in the restaurant.
Very clean room and comfortable bed.
Nothing
Very clean, staff helpful.
Bath in the bedroom, but no problem, requested a bath/shower in a bathroom and room was changed without fuss.
The breakfast was a typical buffet breakfast, everything meaty was overcooked and the eggs hard not runny.
Continental was ok
The inability to get an evening meal even though when we asked there were only 4 tables occupied and it was early evening
A dead and breakfast, the breakfast was very good plenty of options
