It was a very rustic experience, bamboo huts in the jungle, no frills. Very nice to go back to basics but be prepared for this. It was a nice way to slow down and be in nature. We took a 1 day tour with the family on the motorbikes to Surprise cave which was a great day out
The location was very remote, I'd strongly recommend that you rent scooters in town before you arrive at the homestay or you feel quite cut off. There's nowhere else to eat and the menu at the homestay is very limited. We did the half day jungle trek but it was a bit too intense for us - too hot and too off the beaten track, not for the faint hearted for the kids so maybe ask for a light version unless you really want to spend your day forging your way through dense jungle
Warm and heartfelt service.
Come here to slow down, relax your mind, and connect with the local people. Their sincere hospitality makes you appreciate the beauty of a simple life.
I stayed in a bungalow and truly enjoyed the local food recommendations with very reasonable prices.
For the accommodation, I did not expect luxury I wanted something original and authentic, a place where I could simply flow with my mind and live in the moment.
Highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to experience a peaceful and simple way of life.
None
Everything! The property is gorgeous: it faces the jungle on one side and the beautiful rice fields and mountains on the other. Reaching it is super easy and (upon request) very efficiently organized by the host for a few bucks. The food is incredibly good, I particularly loved the noodles and banana pancake, but I’m sure every item is worth a good review. There are a few things to do around there, some hikes, jungle exploration, motorbike riding, and local markets to explore, some of which are organized by the hosts themselves. Finally, the family is extremely kind and welcoming, and they truly make you feel at home. I found the bed comfortable and the toilets and showers clean, but if you expect a luxurious experience this is probably not for you. I personally loved it. Thanks again!
Nothing
Struttura molto accogliente e particolare.
Super authentic bamboo huts in the middle of the jungle. Hosted by the absolute kindest people.
The family was so kind! Hot water in the shower, good food, felt very safe as a solo female traveler.
The family was very friendly and welcoming, always there to help you out, making sure you are ok, and really nice food. We are both vegan and they did a great job at accommodating that.
The location is really beautiful, further away from the more popular homestay area, and next to a lovely river and waterfalls.
I love the hospitality!
I recommend a million times the banana pancake and the mortbike tour
It's so peaceful there and just so relaxing ! Thanks again for my stay
Absolutely amazing,
great home food, simple but delicious compared to most hotels and homestays. The uncle running the place knows about 100 words in english but he is so eager to talk you'll want to spend the night with him, he let us taste his rice wine. They give out good tips about trips and things to see. You get to sleep in neat bungalows.
Really the only people i wouldn't recommend the place to would be those who prefer to be left alone and keep their stay anonymous.
thanks for everythings, its been a lovely day with you guys!
The family who runs this homestay is wonderful and very friendly. The son's English was great and the dad speaks a bit of English as well, so communication was easy. We stayed several nights to slow down and explore the area. The location is great-- in a quiet area, rice farms across the river, a 15-minute walk to Hieu waterfalls, 3-minute walk to some water wheels. Food was good (try the frog's legs!), wi-fi was strong, coffee was stronger.
The mattresses were a bit thin/firm, but we still slept well.
The accomodation is in individual bamboo huts, which were a bit of a novelty for us and had a rustic charm. The location is quite peaceful (with the exception of the roosters who crowed at any old hour!!) and a nice walking distance to the Hieu waterfall and village. The wider Pu Luong area was beautiful and lived up to its reputation as a less touristy Sapa. Tours are offered at reasonable rates, but we chose to go self-guided. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and the food we tried was tasty with a couple of vegetarian options. We kept getting given fresh fruit from the garden, which was delicious!
While the hosts were very friendly and helpful, sometimes they were a bit too friendly for our tastes! No doubt many guests appreciate mealtime conversations, but we are antisocial and prefer to be left to enjoy our food without interruptions... Further, because of the very thin bamboo walls, I never felt like I could have a private conversation without risk that someone would overhear. As other reviews have noted, the beds are hard, but honestly that seems to be pretty standard in Vietnam. Be aware also that you will have to go outside to go to the toilet and shower, which are functional but basic.
However the main drawback in my opinion is the lack of accessibility without your own transport. Buses will generally drop off and pick up in Don Village, and we consistently found that no Grab car drivers were available to take us to and from the homestay. The host offered to arrange motorbikes for us but that wasn't something we felt comfortable with. We ended up walking ~2h each way, which is doable if you are fit but if you don't want to walk, make sure to arrange taxis in advance!
Bearing in mind the basic facilities and transport inconveniences, we also felt that the price wasn't the best value for what you get.
