The staff were nice but they didn't always understand what we were trying to say.
It was further away than I expected. The room was ok but the decor was dated and the shower was bearly a dribble.

Breakfast. Adequate No cereal. The cooked food was placed on our table the moment we arrived.
We apparently were the only overnighters but were given a room on the second floor to which there were no signs.
No atmosphere
Didn’t have breakfast because I ordered breakfast for 8am as the email I received before we arrived stated breakfast availability from 7.30 until 11am we went down for breakfast just after 8am only to be told breakfast was not available until 9am, to be honest it my have been a blessing because all the staff were just sat outside smoking.
Such a shame they have let the property get in this run down state as it could be made lovely because of the age of it,
Staff sat smoking right outside the entrance of the hotel, booked 3 rooms for my party when we got there at 3.30 told only 2 rooms were available 😡which of course coursed problems once we had finally sorted this out which meant 2 people sharing a room we decided to have a drink in the bar before we went out 🤮the beer was obviously off because you could smell it once it had been poured I did have a very small taste it was like vinegar.
It has good history and is very convenient for our needs
The plug in the sink in our bathroom basin was stuck and remained so through all our stay
The bed was surprisingly comfortable, however I found the bed linen although seemingly good quality to be irritating on my skin.
Right from the entrance, the route to my room up the stairs had a very tired and worn old carpet which looked dirty and not at all well maintained. The windows in my room were filthy inside and out. The bathroom had footprints on the floor. Whether or not the property was actually clean, it all looked and felt dirty, tired and in serious and immediate need of maintenance.
Last minute booking, so not first choice..it was okay, but tv issues, no fans, so extremely hot. Breakfast extra...had to preorder and tea and coffee were extra charge!. Bed comfortable...it's ok but not sure would stay again....

Excellent location for attending events at the Hellfire Caves. Good parking & comfortable room. It’s an old pub with character & an eclectic layout!

Staff member on reception was welcoming. Car park had plenty of room.
The hotel is very "tired" and in need of investment to bring it back to a better standard. Wallpaper hanging off wall in my room, windows poorly fitting and the frames need repair and paint. Bed on a slope, held up by blocks at the head end, all looking a bit run-down and neglected. Lots of road noise through the night (not much the hotel can do about being on the A4 I guess). No evening meals available Monday to Wednesday (I was there on Tuesday) Long walk (1.3 miles) to nearest pub with food. Breakfast extra £10.00 plus additional £3.00 for a pot of tea with breakfast. Overall it appears to be on the brink of closure?
