Downstairs lounges and evening meal. Beautiful setting
Old and creaky. Very hot. Old fashioned rooms and uncomfortable beds. Basic breakfast
Very impressive hotel in beautiful surroundings, the public rooms were lovely and the breakfast was very good. The leisure facilities were excellent and very warm!
The only criticism we could say is that the hotel is looking a little tired in places but we do appreciate that it is a very old very large building and upkeep must be very challenging. This would in no way stop us from staying here again.
Location, golf course, room.
Pam the receptionist was extremely helpful and friendly.
Breakfast great
Location good for visiting family
Breakfast very good good selection of everything needed to make it very good our room was the largest we have Ever stayed in
I don think there was any thing I could complain about
Beautiful hotel. Delicious food and reasonably priced.
The dinner food is outstanding
Buffet breakfast some cold some over heated
Beautiful location, lovely staff, excellent family room. Very welcoming
Good quiet location in a fine old building. The quality of the food for the evening meal was very good. Swimming pool was excellent.
Reception staff on departure were friendly but on arrival we were ignored for some time by two reception staff who did not acknowledge our presence and continued a conversation with other hotel staff. No words of welcome were given.
Not a good start.
Stunning entrance to the hotel. Grounds were lovely. Swimming and sauna was great too that was a bonus
It’s a lovely building but the room we were in was just a bit dated. It was clean though
Beautiful house in great surroundings.
Lovely swimming pool and golf course. Very good food and helpful staff. As other reviewers have noted the room decor is tired but the rooms and bathrooms are clean. It’s great value for money and we would definitely stay again.
No lift
Disappointed that some breakfast dishes had a mark-up price. The basic buffet was adequate but no more. The food was warm though and well prepared. Fruit salad at breakfast was mainly apple-based - we have an apple intolerance in the family!
The property is in sensationally beautiful grounds.
Evening meals were very very good. A wide- ranging menu, excellently prepared and presented.
Spacious and interesting interior was a bonus. But it must cost a lot to maintain and at times cut corners were apparent. It may seem strange to say, but our room was strangely large - more like a dormitory. And one with ill-fitting curtains.
