Breakfast staff very polite and friendly. Service prompt and efficient.
Food very good, especially the eggs, fruit salad and porridge.
Would have liked croissants.
Room was lovely and the sea view was amazing.
We did b and b which was lovely for us.
Location was spot on too.
I feel that the booking. Com description about the spa was misleading, iv stayed in alot of spa hotels and been allowed to use the pool at no extra cost while at the hotel, obviously you have to pay for treatments etc, which was my understanding of this holiday. However, you couldn't at this hotel. It was £50 for 90 minutes, which i thought was alot when id paid over £400 for us to stay there, so we were very disappointed with this and would have looked for an alternative if id known.
They did offer free admission to the. Municipal pool , but it did not have good reviews so declined .
Great hotel

Receptionist was very friendly. Bed linen was clean, bathroom was clean. Room was warm (bit too hot?). Water for shower plentiful and hot. Hotel had character and wonky floors which was quite fun. Waiter serving us breakfast was efficient.
Breakfast was memorable for the wet, bland haddock, flavourless jam and marmalade, skinny boring bread and weak coffee. Waiting staff was not very friendly. Floor of our room wasn't properly hoovered. Bed was a bit of a brick.
Excellent bed, breakfast and dinner hotel. Tasty four course evening meal and good breakfast selection,
The whole Hotel needs a revamp inside and out, lost inside is very nice
No bar atmosphere opens at 6.00pm mor for dinners so I used the Pub
Great location, with good facilities
A little tired and well worn. Breakfast was disappointing
Good location
Catering was only adequate - not enough staff to serve and the food was not particularly hot
Room, location, very efficient waiters at breakfast
Draughty entrance hall, very busy breakfast room due to coachload of guests
Great location from our sea view. Friendly staff. Clean room.
Would have preferred a more buffet style breakfast but assume it is due to older people staying at the hotel.
The young staff serving in the restaurant were fantastic as was the young lady regularly on the reception desk.
Nothing
Staff were super
Friendly staff, fantastic location right on the sea front
No swimming voucher as I'd booked via booking for com. I was also told when messaging the hotel via the same booking channel that there was no parking but there is behind the hotel
It delivered what was described, the staff were lovely people and helpful. The experience was like stepping back in time to when the victorians visited Sidmouth on mass and a level of service was expected, the royal although old with uneven floors all over they did deliver those services making the experience very enjoyable.
Uneven floors made the place feel a bit like those fairground attractions of illusion. No big deal it was even a bit funny
Location and view
Location
A bit dated
Sea front middle of town
Very rundown
