Good location but cold inside
Pros:

Friendly staff and tasty breakfast. but the place itself need some proper remodeling. We had nice hot water in the shower and the was strong once it start running.

Cons:

The biggest issue we had was the bed and the mattress. It was old, extremely soft and used way too many times. Me and my wife dont usually have trouble falling asleep but here we stayed up for a long time.
We had rain and quiet a strong wind during our stay and the room was cold, the wind was getting inside through the holes around the windows and doors, we had to use the provided heater to make it a bit warm inside. The walls looked a bit wet too.

Pros:

Das Bett war sehr bequem, der Rest naja. Wenn man nicht so genau hinschaut schick, wenn man genauer hinschaut schimmeln die Wände, wirklich sauber ist es nicht. Aber immerhin heißes Wasser.

Cons:

Da Frühstück war gelinde gesagt eine Katastrophe. Wir haben auf 8:15 bestellt, weil wir um 9 loswollten. Es kam um kurz vor 9. Die Pancakes waren in der Mitte nicht gar und hatten einen seltsamen Geschmack, das Spiegelei war ok aber die 2 Scheiben Toast trocken und nicht getoastet, ein Plastikpäckchen Butter und Marmelade und eine Scheibe „Bacon“ (was auch immer das war, definitiv kein Bacon).
Nie wieder.

I booked this hotel last-minute as a backup option, drawn in by the 5-star classification and glowing reviews — 3 nights, at a steep price, with no real alternative available. The interior is dated and poorly maintained, far from what a 5-star rating suggests. I was the only guest in the entire hotel — after my stay, I understood why. After the first night I asked to check out early. Staff agreed and promised a refund for the unused night. I asked for cash on the spot but was told none was available, and it would be sorted out afterward. That never happened. Multiple follow-up messages went unanswered. No refund, no explanation. Be cautious if you’re considering booking here — the rating doesn’t match the reality.

Beautiful garden, great location, fantastic staff
Pros:

The garden is magnificent, the staff are so kind and helpful, the location is excellent

Cons:

The hotel lives in a past of grandeur, but now needs a good refresh. Even small improvements like new bed linen, new towels, new curtains would make the difference, and justify the 5 stars this establishment is boasting. Thanks to the manager for having listened to me on these points.

It is NOT a hotel
It is NOT 5 stars (maybe 2 stars)

If you want to stay in a 5 stars hotel there is one at 5 minutes walk and it’s where we had drinks and dinner; the owner should go and see what is a proper hotel

Cons:

It is ma a total lie!
It is not a hotel; it is a homestay
It is not a 5 stars
They don’t have bar (no alcohol license)
No common area apart from an old kind of living room

Bien mais peu mieux faire sur la nourriture notamment
Pros:

La situation de l’hôtel est parfaite. Au calme avec possibilité de visiter la ville à pied
Très très grande chambre, dans son jus. Personnel adorable

Cons:

Pas de bar, pas de restaurant sur place. On doit doit tout réserver à l’avance. La nourriture n’était pas top.

Pros:

Es un hotel colonial pequeño al que le falta algo de mantenimiento. No tenia restaurante para cenar y la ciudad está algo lejos.

Cons:

En la ciudad hace frío y el hotel a pesar de tener un calefactor en la habitación no lo tenía en el baño. Salía poca agua caliente de la ducha y sumado al frío que hacía no era muy agradable.

Old British colonial property (in need of some upkeep). Comfortable extra large bed, large room. Good for overnight stay

Large room and bathroom. Old colonial British atmosphere. Bed was very large and comfortable.

Cons:

Property needs some up keep. It was cold when we arrived, took a while for the small heater to warm the room. No water from taps during the night.

Pros:

El personal es muy amable, nos facilitó el transporte y atendió todas nuestras peticiones. La ubicación es buena, está cerca de la ciudad y puedes caminar por la zona sin necesidad de usar tuk tuk. Es un hotel antiguo, elegante, con unos bellos jardines, venido a menos con el paso de los años. La cama era enorme y muy cómoda.

Cons:

Las instalaciones están bastante descuidadas: humedades en todas las paredes, el agua de la ducha salía demasiado caliente o demasiado fría, etc.

UNSAFE HOTEL!!
there is nothing good to say about this hotel , please be very careful as previous reviews are very very questionable.

Cons:

the hotel is UNSAFE!
black toxic mould in bedrooms, on walls, bathroom, on bedding.

kitchen fridge is filthy and very unclean, would not eat here even if you paid me! we had to store medicine overnight in fridge.

kitchen vermin (rats), seen at night when had to move medicine from fridge due to power cut.

hotel mgt refuses to contact me after i have messaged them through booking.com

hotel staff at location recognises building issues and referred me to their head office, head office doesnt get back in touch, i am opening a dispute with them and seek booking.com assistance.

baby cot in hotel is broken and mattress has black toxic mould, very unsafe for any child!

carpets are unclean, stained and dirty.

bedrooms smell old, damp and foisty.

bedroom linen is stained.

the credibility of these previous booking.com reviews is very very questionable- be warned!

Nice old colonial style building

Cons:

Staff was not very welcoming. "If you want tea, you have to pay".

Room barely has any windows/natural light. Interior dated, bit dirty, leaking roof.

Breakfast was so-so.

Very bad value for money, Sri Lanka has a lot better to offer

Sympa de séjourner dans une maison coloniale cependant les prestations n’étaient vraiment pas à la hauteur du prix deman

Lits confortables, grandes chambres, communicantes donc pratiques pour une famille. Chauffage d’appoint et couettes très appréciables dans cette région pluvieuse et froide ! Ancienne maison du gouverneur anglaise dans son jus

Cons:

Salles de bains de propreté approximative, douche écossaise (froid ou brûlant), gouttières trouées qui tambourinent toute la nuit… les enfants n’ont pas mangé leur petit déjeuner qui n’était pour tout le monde vraiment pas bon.
