Beautiful simple place in the Favelas. It’s all about the view, Fabienne‘s good and healthy breakfast and lots of nice fellow travelers.

The view! I loved waking up every morning to sunrise, don’t think it’s possible to find a better view in Rio. The kitchen area was also amazing, really appreciated having the space for cooking during the week. I also loved the location: I felt really safe, and everyone in the neighbourhood was so friendly, always stopping to say hello. Fabian and Julia were also really welcoming, and incredibly helpful if I ever needed to know anything about the area. They run a lot of events to make everyone feel involved, which is lovely. I wish I had chance to participate but I was unfortunately ill for a few days when I arrived! I felt very at home here, and was really sad to leave. Bonus points for having filtered water available from a tap, saved me loads of money and plastic being able to refill! Thank you for making my time in Rio so special.

The place is very nice with a beautiful view from the kitchen and lounge area , and the rooms are comfortable . I was staying in the private room with a bathroom and it was quite good .

Place was wonderful - unfortunately you can´t trust the price. And when you point this out to the Staff, you will NOT be popular!
Dear Staff: your presentation text BEFORE booking states that the price is INCL. "taxes and extras" - and that "Credit card isn´t neccesary for this booking".
Then AFTER the booking you send this surprise-info: "There is a 5% extra charge if you pay by card".
Now +5% is not a lot, but it´s a lack of respect for your Clients, guys.
Why not just be HONEST from the start; there are plenty of places you can mention this extra cost in your presentation.
And: (dear french Lady ;) , when your clients mention this, you don´t need to act "offended": it´s only FEEDBACK! You should be positive when someone gives you Feedback... We really don´t mean to mess with you!
Anyway, after pointing the "5%-surprise" out, I never felt Welcome, so I quickly left after 2 nights. But the hostal had a super nice atmosphere and View, so it would have been nice staying longer.

The accommodation has an amazing view, and is located within a very nice community. Also Santa Teresa is a very cool area. Everything was clean and great!

The view on Rio , the favela and the hosts

Wish we had a bit longer here. This was a quick stop over for us but the place is beautiful in a peaceful community, walkable to the main Sta Tereza area. The room and bathroom were super spacious - we were in the double with private bathroom. Julia et Fabien have decorated it beautifully. The terrace is incredible. Loved it.
