No food available - but as mentioned I was informed prior to stay and they are looking for a replacement chef. Taxi drivers stated they had a good reputation for food prior to the chef leaving. Plus side - plenty of places in Helensburgh to get food. This is in the "didn't like" but please don't let this distract from the rooms/views or how the staff - and locals to that fact treat you which was great. Would I stay here again with or without food - YES. If I had a choice I would have had meals here due to the way the staff and locals treat you and by previous reputation. They are obviously looking for a chef to keep their previous good reports going. This may take time.

Had been looking forward to the food but had just lost their chef so no dinner or breakfast available. These things happen.

Dirty cups in the room put me off making a tea or coffee, slightly worrying that there was nobody to overlook the running of the inn but the bar man was exceptional!

Der Lärm auf Grund der Gäste, welche das angeschlossene Pub des Hotels lautstark verlassen haben sowie auch der Strassenlärm und die Müllabfuhr, welche morgens gegen 06.00 Uhr die Glascontainer geleert haben.

There was nothing that i didn't like! Oh...maybe...the heat in the hallway as I came out of the room hit me like a wall! Im always hot tho, so it would probably be perfect for most people. Good in winter too!!

No food. Really disappointed because between me booking and arriving the kitchen closed. No milk for hot drinks in the room

Unfortunately there was no breakfast at the time of my booking and no evening meals on either

No food but very they did say before we bookedthat the kitchen is being renovated . A bit noisy as it is right beside a road.

Unfortunately my room was at the front of the building where there is a busy road so there is a lot of traffic noise, rumblings and vibration especially when the larger lorries drove past. The windows are single glazed and don’t close tightly due to their age so that doesn’t help either with the acoustics. You’d think that internal secondary glazing would help and wouldn’t affect a listed property.

In the hotter weather not having the windows open for the noise would be hot and stuffy as the sun is on that side of the building all day.

The blinds also lets a lot of light in at the sides and there is a very bright floodlight street light that shines directly onto the building so it’s like daylight all night long.

I had to buy earplugs and an eye mask after the first night otherwise I wouldn’t have slept much at all and probably would have had to have left.

One other disappointment was the pub wasn’t serving food at all, so no breakfast or dinner available. There is a Brae store nearby that sells bacon and egg butties and average coffee but you wouldn’t want that every morning. I did however find some great cafes in Helensburgh which saved the day.

A small fridge for a few items, milk and drinks etc would have been useful.

The price that was charged wasn’t proportional to take into account the issues there so on hindsight I would have been better looking elsewhere.

I think if some improvements were made to alleviate some of the issues above then it would make a stay far more pleasurable.
