We wouldn't stay there again or recommend it to friends.
Pros:

Bar was good. Staff were busy but helpful

Cons:

Broken sash window lock in our room. The window opened onto a small balcony which meant that anybody from adjoining rooms could have got into our room by just lifting the window. The door lock was also extremely basic.

Two steps down to get from the bathroom to the bedroom could have been very dangerous for elderly visitors. Maybe put a light on the steps or use different, light coloured carpet on them to make them more visible, especially at night.

The rear car park cannot be used as it is full of tables and chairs, at least in summer. That makes dropping off/picking up luggage difficult.

Carpet in our room was stained.

Lovely friendly staff and pretty historic building.
Pros:

Staff went out of their way to welcome us, waiting for us to arrive at 11pm, as we'd been badly delayed. Great breakfast. Comfortable room. It's a lovely, quirky 16th century coaching Inn.

Cons:

The hotel is slowly renovating some rooms, so bathroom is a bit dated. They are replacing all of these in rotation.

Pros:

Die Lage, das freundliche Personal, das Frühstück, das Ambiente

Cons:

Wir sind zu zweit gereist, aber nicht als Paar. Es gab für das Bett nur eine große Decke. Zwei normale Decken wären schöner gewesen. Im Obergeschoss war es sehr heiß, eine Durchlüftung kaum möglich.

Great staff and excellent breakfast.
Pros:

Excellent breakfast. Delightful staff.

Cons:

It's hard to describe The George as a hotel. It is really a pub with rooms, which is why I felt it was wildly expensive for what it provided. The staff were kept incredibly busy. There is no parking. Our room was ok but it was very noisy - football was on until very late.

Convenient location but no parking onsite
Pros:

Location was good and the staff - in particular Miles - were extremely helpful. There was some refurbishment of the electricity in the building underway and one of our rooms did not have power to the sockets. Miles was particularly understanding of the situation and the room was changed.

Cons:

There is no parking at the hotel. One of our rooms only had a small window which looked on to the fans from the kitchen which given the heatwave was very annoying as the windows had to be kept shut to try and reduce the smell and noise. The beds were very comfortable and the tea/coffee facility was good. Sadly the decor and fabric of the building in the bedrooms we had was looking very tired and in need of a refurbishment.

Pros:

We had a lovely stay and I would recommend the George hotel to friends and family
Pros:

Breakfast was included and was very good with great friendly service. Dinner at the hotel was also very good. We tried different things every night and they were all tasty. The room was cosy and a good size. A fan was provided in room as the weather was hot. The bathroom was decent, and clean and the bed was comfy and I slept well each night. There was a great selection of tea and coffee provided int he room with a kettle and a coffee machine. There was also compliantly water and cookies which were a nice touch. The hotel atmosphere was great with such interesting history.

Cons:

The food would take a little long to come every evening we ate there even though the bar and restaurant was not busy. There was mould on the wall in the shower which could have been easily cleaned off and there was greasy marks on the mirror in the room. There were building works taking place which we were not told about before arrival. This made it so we could not park in there car parking area. There was a free car park 2 min away from hotel so this was not too much of a problem however it should have been disclosed. Also the workmen started at 6.30 in the morning and were a little nosy. They also decided to re-varnish the bars at 10.00 in the eve and the terrible smell got trapped on our corridor all night and made the dining room smell in the morning when we came down for breakfast on 2 of the mornings.

Did what it says on the tin.
Pros:

Located close to where we were attending an event. The staff were very friendly and had taken the trouble to remove the duvet on the bed to take account of the hot weather. Breakfast was tasty.

Cons:

It took a little longer to check us in because they had forgotten to do the pre-check-in, but it caused only a very minor delay. The small fan which they gave us for the bedroom was very noisy and not quite up to the job. There were only small tubes of bath and shower gell in the bathroom in stead of proper soap.
