From the moment I booked, the communication from Rhidos Homestay was exceptional. Even though the owner wasn’t in the country, every question I had was answered quickly, and they helped organize everything seamlessly—from my private transportation and laundry to arranging my 3-day jungle trek.

When I arrived, DeeDee and his beautiful family, welcomed me like I was part of their friends. After months of traveling, that feeling meant more to me than I can put into words. Their kindness, generosity, and genuine hospitality made this much more than just a place to stay.

The homestay itself sits right along the river, and waking up to those views was incredibly peaceful. There were a few power outages during my stay, but that’s simply part of being in the jungle and not something I would ever blame the homestay for.

The jungle trek they arranged was the experience of a lifetime. Our guides, Marwan and Pazar,Ipan, and papa Eton were absolutely exceptional. Their knowledge of the jungle and its wildlife was incredible, and thanks to their expertise we had unforgettable encounters with wild orangutans and many other animals while always treating the environment with respect. Every meal they prepared during the trek was delicious, and their passion for sharing the rainforest was obvious every step of the way.

I’ve stayed in many accommodations while traveling, but very few have made me feel as welcomed as Rhidos Homestay. If you’re visiting Bukit Lawang, don’t hesitate to stay here and let them arrange your jungle adventure. You won’t just leave with amazing memories, you’ll leave feeling like you’ve made lifelong friends.

Super mooie plek aan de rivier! Schoon, airco, warme douche, schoon! Er word goed voor je gezorgd en de mannen staan altijd voor je klaar. Jungle toch met Johny en Tony geboekt via hen en het was fantastisch geregeld.

We had an amazing stay at Ridho’s Homestay in Bukit Lawang and can highly recommend it to everyone visiting the area.

From the very beginning until the end of our trip, Dedek took great care of us and was always available whenever we had questions or needed help.
He picked us up from the parking area when we arrived and made everything very easy and stress-free. Dedek also organized a perfect jungle trekking tour to see the orangutans with Johnny and Tony, who were excellent guides.

In addition, he arranged our onward transportation safely and efficiently, which we really appreciated. The breakfast was simple and tasty.

We would definitely stay here again.

Staying at Rhidos Homestay was smooth and relaxing. They organized everything for me, from transportation to jungle trekking.
I am especially grateful to my guide, Jhony, who explained so much about the flora and fauna of the jungle. He truly knows everything about it and is happy to share his knowledge.
Everything was organized by the always-smiling Dedek, who made me feel very welcome. You can also buy necessary hiking equipment from his shop.
The place itself is wonderful, located right by the river. You can see monkeys from your balcony, monitor lizards in the river, and fireflies at night. It almost feels like staying in the jungle, just with the comfort of AC and hot shower 🙂

Dedek ist sehr hilfsbereit und sehr freundlich . Jonny und Tony haben mit uns 2 Touren in den jungel gemacht. Zu jeder Zeit haben wir uns sicher gefühlt und unser wunsch Orang-Utans zusehen wurde mehr als erfüllt. Die Verpflegung war ausgezeichnet.Der organisierte hin und rück weg nach Medan mit Adi hatte perfekt funktioniert.
Können Ridho's Homestay und Jungel Trekking zu 100% weiter empfehlen. Liebe grüsse aus der Schweiz.

Alles war unglaublich toll! Man hat uns schon vor der Ankunft alle Informationen die wir brauchten mitgeteilt, sodass wir ohne Probleme vom Flughafen bis vor die Haustüre gebracht wurden und ein paar Tage später mit den besten Guides Jonny, Toni und Anto einen zwei Tage Trekking Trip machen konnten. Auch Dedek hat uns vor Ort bei allem geholfen und uns super Tipps für den Ort gegeben!
Das Zimmer und die Dusche waren super sauber und das tägliche Frühstück konnte bei so einem tollen Ausblick von der Terrasse nur gut schmecken!

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt dank der herzlichen Gastgeber Dedek, seiner Frau sowie Toni und Johny. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und bestens umsorgt. Besonders schön war der Dschungel-Trek zu den Orang-Utans und die Achtsamkeit der Guides im Umgang mit dem Regenwald! Von unserer Terrasse hatten wir eine tolle Aussicht auf den Dschungel und direkten Zugang zum Fluss.

The staff was very helpful and vey kind :-) The jungle tracking was amazing, very nice. And the other program (Tangkahan) was very good again. Our 2 guides and drives Johny and Tony were very very super guide and kind, and they took care of us.

The best jungle accommodation we have ever stayed at! The owner, Dedek, and his wife Sonja make you feel extremely welcome, they take care of all your needs and make you feel at home right from the start.

The room is situated directly by the river, offering an absolutely breathtaking view of both the river and the surrounding jungle. There’s a lovely balcony where you can relax and even spot monkeys along the riverbanks.

The room has everything you need, from a comfortable bed to a kettle for making coffee or tea.

We also booked a one-day jungle trek directly through the homestay. Tony and Jonny were our guides, and they shared so much knowledge about the plants and wildlife. They really went out of their way to make the experience enjoyable for us.

place was 1 two room property on the rivers edge. View from door was of the river and the jungle. Peaceful. Macaque monkeys visible on other side of river and occasionally passed by on room side. Breakfast was simple and brought to the room to eat on the outside area. Decent cafes close by local food. Didek arranged trips for us and made sure they were on time and went well. No issues with his support. Local people were very friendly and felt safe and comfortable in the area.

Derek de eigenaar zorgde ervoor dat je niks tekort kwam. Hij heeft voor mij de jungletocht geregeld en een driver Poetra voor 5 dagen. Poetra vertelde onderweg alles over Sumatra en stopte bij leuke plekjes waar je als toerist normaal gesproken nooit zou komen.

Teplá voda, klimatizácia, skvelý výhľad na dažďový prales, raňajky na terase

Ubytovanie v tichej časti, niekoľko reštaurácii a obchodov v bezprostrednom okolí.

Izba je priestranná, vybavená, má teplú vodu, moskytiéru, sušiak na prádlo, sedenie na balkóne s výhľadom na rieku a dažďový prales. V noci žiadny hluk, len šum rieky. Luxusné raňajky podľa priania priamo na balkóne. Milí majitelia. Zabezpečia odvoz na motorke priamo k ubytovaniu. Zabezpečili nám skvelých sprievodcov Johnyho a Toniho, ktorí nám poskytli mnoho informácií. Absolvovali sme 1 dňový trek. Videli sme 1 orangutana a niekoľko endemitických Hulmanov thomasových (Presbytis thomasi).
