Nera centrum
The location, building and room size. The bed was comfy.
It was unfinished! We couldn't check in to the room we booked because it was being worked on. The TVs didnt work properly. In some of the rooms, the baths weren't even plumbed in. It's like the hotel was still being built and the staff seemed genuinely surprised to have guests. A bizarre experience.
Excelente
Wonderful guys at the front desk very helpful love the property itself right in town close to everything
The hotel is well located in Quito's historic district, just a few minutes' walk from many destinations. The view from the roof bar is terrific. The (minimal) staff are friendly. The restoration of the interiors is very beautiful but ...
I don't know if the hotel is in soft-open mode, but more attention seems to have been paid to flashy, high-end finishes and interior design/decoration details than to the fundamental things a traveler would be looking for:
- Construction was going on during the day while I was there. The door hardware in my room still had its protective blue plastic membrane.
- No closet or wardrobe or any place to hang clothes. Just dressers.
- No soap/body wash in the dispensers, and I had to request toilet paper.
- TV and remote yes, but no connection to cable or satellite.
- No safe for valuables.
- No effort at soundproofing: there was a gap under my door (room on first floor, near reception), and I could hear everything, including conversations, happening in the space outside my room, which means anyone out there could hear me.
- The room was essentially a studio with the bathroom built into the space (it's an old old building), but the bathroom floor is a couple inches higher — a hazard for tripping/falling/stubbing toes in the dark.
- The ersatz French rococo furniture isn't really functional — the vanity was at an odd height even I couldn't use (I'm 6'4"), it couldn't work as a desk, and there was no chair that would fit the vanity anyway.
Clearly a lot of money is going into this space, and if they can get the hospitality details right, it'll be a gem.
It was a great choice for the location being close to all interesting site in old town. I must say the historical part of the building and rooms and decoration was very interesting the bathroom was large and brand new. Staff very friendly and helpful with getting us tour and taxis. Breakfast was ok but very minimal. Over all we were happy.
Our room didn't have windows and was always stuffy which they gave us a fan we requested. Also breakfast was made per your order but took very long time which if you had to go on a tour or other sites you couldn't wait. I suggest to have a buffet type breakfast to make it easier on staff and customers.
