Location and Tarporley itself
Noise from passing cars but not a big issue
Property was very character, full very cozy and the vibes I loved
Overall, I had a good stay, but there are a few areas that could be improved.
The check in process felt quite impersonal. There was no one really there to welcome guests, which made the arrival feel a little distant rather than warm and inviting.
The biggest issue was the lighting in the room at night. There were too many sources of light, making it difficult to sleep. The green light from the bathroom shone underneath the door, and the corridor lights outside came through the gaps around the room door. Although the curtains were closed, a significant amount of light still came in around the edges. A simple blackout pelmet or curtain cover above the window would solve this issue and would likely be an inexpensive improvement.
I have also included a photograph below showing the amount of light coming into the room at approximately 1:47 am, as it helps demonstrate the issue more clearly.
A couple of smaller points: it would have been nice to have biscuits in the room with the tea and coffee, and I would much prefer proper teaspoons instead of wooden stirrers. Reusable teaspoons and small bottles of milk would also be more practical and likely more cost effective over time.
Good location for what I needed.
I stayed for two nights. It was unbearably hot, uninhabitably so. I arrived at 4, opened the window as wide as I could and went out again. There was no way I could stay in that room until at least nightfall. I returned at 9.30 and it was still hot as Hades. A fan was provided but they are useless they just circulate the hot air. I called the out of office hours number and spoke to a sympathetic sounding woman who told me someone would be in touch. I asked if they could provide a plug in air conditioner (easily available at various retailers). I received a generic response via this app basically saying open the window and use the fan. They really didn’t give a damn. Another fan was left at my door. It was broken, did not work. I messaged them and received no response. Did not sleep at all. Window wide open with the night time traffic and people returning from pubs and restaurants till quite late. No nespresso machine despite it being mentioned in the room listing. Breakfast in the shop was very average at London prices.
When I left at 7am, really couldn’t stay much longer., I walked past another room. They had taken the drastic action of keeping their room door wide open .
There really is no excuse. You know summer is around the corner. Make sure your guests are in a safe environment and provide for them. It’s an extremely dangerous environment for those who suffer from asthma, high blood pressure. Cardiovascular issues, pregnancy, elderly, young children… you get my drift.
Perhaps realising that you may have to deal with a medical emergency, will motivate you to provide portable air conditioners.
It’s location was perfect for the wedding we went to nearby. We ended up getting back at 3am and also checking in at that time so only spent 7 hours in our beautiful aesthetic room with amazing bathroom and beautiful furnishings. We are going to go back to actually enjoy The Stay and the village !!
Couldn’t open the window so instruction on how to open a sash window would be helpful
Nothing
The property is in a great location and the self check-in is really easy. The rooms are nicely decorated, very clean and a decent size.
Nothing.
Great location! Lovely, modern rooms and bathroom. Nice and clean :)
You cannot manually lock the room from the inside, which is not ideal if you’re staying with your children.
Also contacted out of hours emergency team for help, was told someone would call back and never heard from them which was not helpful.
No breakfast provided.
EVERYTHING-So overpriced total disappointment. I had spotted on the reviews that people had had difficulty getting into their rooms but that still did not prepare us for the fuss & difficulty trying to get into our rooms using a SMARTLOCK system.numbers lit up & it told us were locked out before we had even got in to the rooms!
We arrived sadly during the heatwave to find the curtains wide open on south facing room & the window was open about 4”. A tower fan had been left in the room but not turned on the, heat was of course overwhelming,so much so that the cafe Hollies which was lauded about - closed due to excessive heat so we could not cool off or use those facilities.
There was NO reception so therefore no one to ask if we needed anything & subsequently neither our towels or bedding were freshened up, no replacement of bottled water. There were just 2 rolls of loo paper per room no spare.
The cotton duvet cover was very rough & I noticed the duvet had no protector on it for hygienic reasons.
The mirrors were placed around the room in the darkest corners & we had no illuminated bathroom mirror.
There was no Nespresso coffee machine to access despite their leaflet saying there would be one.
The place has limited car parking for guests & I was told prior to arrival that it was a first come first serve basis BUT we noticed that staff at the adjoining Hollies Cafe arrived very early & at least 2 of those spaces were occupied by staff all day.
I would not recommend or ever return to that establishment they did not care about their guests & I actually felt quite unsafe as the door into the foyer we found had been left open a couple of times & stock for the adjoining Hollies cafe/shop was dropped off their with another door opening up into the shop! It was a very bizarre set up leaving us feeling very ripped off & unhappy.
Beautifully decorated & exceptionally clean. Due to 35 degree heat with only a small fan between the two of us it was unbearably hot in the room. A fan for each bedside would have been ideal. But apart from that we enjoyed a really lovely overnight stay & would recommend to others. The cafe breakfasts at the Hollies below were gorgeous too.
Just the uncomfortable sweaty heat in the room which meant it was uncomfortable from the minute we arrived until we left. Neither of us slept a wink due to how unbearably hot the room was. Air con would be ideal otherwise definitely 2 x fans rather than just one in those extreme temperatures.
Great location, modern comfort in an old building. Excellent breakfast in the cafe downstairs
Location
Hit duvet
We primarily booked this because of an event we attended at Bolesworth Castle. We did not manage to get back to the hotel until 4am due to transport issues from the venue. We then had to vacate the hotel by 10am. We did have breakfast before we left which was delicious, it was a shame we couldn’t have stayed a little longer to enjoy the room and facilities which were all really luxurious and a very clean.
It was just a shame to have to leave by 10am. I thought that was very early.
The breakfast was purchased from the cafe downstairs which was owned by the accommodation providers. It was excellent
The room was clean and comfortable
