I was extremely disappointed
Pros:

I recently stayed at Donna Carmela and, while the property itself was pleasant, I was extremely disappointed with the transfer arrangements organised by the hotel.

I was advised that the hotel’s transfer provider offered rates that were cheaper than other available options. Based on that recommendation, I allowed the hotel to arrange my transportation. I was charged €180 for a transfer to Taormina and €500 for an airport transfer to Palermo, which became necessary due to the disruption caused by the
Mount Etna eruption
.

After returning home and researching local transfer prices, I discovered that both amounts appear to be more than double the normal market rate. This was particularly concerning given that the driver informed me that he had been booked by the hotel to collect another client at the same time as I was being dropped off, suggesting that the airport journey was not an exclusive transfer despite the premium price charged.

As a guest, I trusted the hotel to act in my best interests when recommending and arranging these services. Instead, I was left feeling significantly overcharged during an already stressful travel situation.

I also emailed the hotel afterwards to express my disappointment and request an explanation, but unfortunately I have received no response. The lack of acknowledgment has been as disappointing as the charges themselves.

My advice to future guests is to independently compare transfer prices before accepting the hotel’s recommended service.

Ein wunderschönes Anwesen, sehr persönlich und professionell. Sehr freundliches Personal. Zimmer (wir hatten ein Bungalow mit Meerblick) hat eine wunderbare Privatsphäre und ist grosszügig. Essen war auch gut und das eigenen Weingut ist für Weinliebhaber absolut ein Besuch wert.
Ein grösserer Pool, Spa und weiteres Restaurant sind bereits im Bau, sicherlich auch bereichernd mit diesem Meerblick.

Romantic, Peaceful, Amazing Food - The Perfect Escape!

It is so serene and lovely. Beautiful and clean — peaceful. The staff is amazing-every person was so kind and helpful. We stayed in one of the romantic lodges and it was perfecto! waking up to look at the Med — our own plunge pool — and great proximity to the main buildings. We couldn’t leave bc we were so happy, so we ate both dinners in the beautiful restaurant and the food was amazing- the wine list extensive and the attention to details — 100%.

Cons:

There wasn’t anything not to like! My only
suggestion for a “need” is a car/dedicated driver to take folks to the little town (if one doesn’t have a car).
