Beautiful river location
Pros:

Fantastic location, comfortable room, powerful hot shower, good food.

Cons:

Peaceful surroundings
Pros:

Perfect location very near to Donnington racetrack. Dinner was excellent, good choice of food. Buffet breakfast was varied and plentiful. Overall a nice place to stay, staff very friendly and a beautiful setting tucked away in the countryside.

Cons:

Stayed in one of the cottage rooms. It was clean but in need of sprucing up, it was a bit tired looking.

Excellent location and restaurant. Room disappointing

The location was excellent for an event at Donington Race Circuit.
The restaurant and lounge area was pleasant and the food was very good

The cottage room was dated and dirty in places.

Fantastic location, reasonably priced, dog friendly and staffed by an excellent and friendly young team
Pros:

Considering the very reasonable price, we were more than happy to book a night, to break a long journey, and were really pleased we chose it, as it’s in an absolute perfect little setting, nestled on the banks of the river, still displaying huge iron waterwheels from when it was a mill, the former mill cottages where were we stayed, divided into en-suite rooms, that obviously get a lot of use, but are very clean and comfortable … and again, considering the price point, well within expectations.
The receptionist, on our arrival, couldn’t have been any more helpful, dog friendly bar and restaurant meant we didn’t have to find somewhere to eat, food was modern, tasty, and well presented, and staff were friendly and attentive… despite being close to East Midlands, noise wise we had a peaceful night, and woke up rested, had hot powerful showers, and were ready for the next leg, after taking the opportunity to walk the dog by the river before heading off. we will happily use this place again, next time we are passing through … the main hotel looks like a nice place to stay too, and the big riverside gardens and outdoor areas make it a great place to eat and drink.

Not very good
Cons:

Not worth the money. Fire alarm went off in the night for no reason and I actually helped the young guy on the desk to get the system turned off when we had found out there was no fire.

Pretty location, needs some attention in areas
Pros:

The location was very picturesque with the river directly opposite. The area was quiet. The reception area was light and airy. The rooms were nicely laid out with useful additions of an iron, ironing board and safety deposit box. The shower was great with good water pressure and the bath was large.

Cons:

The bar area looked dated and needed a clean from all of the marks on the walls, cobwebs and spiders. The outside seating area- wobbly/breaking seats and tables. The bed was very uncomfortable- hard, squeaky and seemed small. A fridge in the room would have helped with the heatwave so water could be stored

Stunning location. But let down by lack of maintenance and is getting a bit tired now.
Pros:

Amazing location right by the river. Very beautiful. A good large car park

Cons:

Getting a bit tired now. It was insanely hot the weekend I went and lack of air conditioning was a problem. Windows couldn’t be opened as the room is next to woods so bugs fly in. So didn’t get any sleep.

Very uncomfortable stay
Pros:

Proximity to Castle Donington

Cons:

The cottages were extremely dated and the ventilation extremely poor. There was only a very small window for ventilation and to cap that there was a light directly outside that attracted numerous bugs. A very poor night's sleep in very uncomfortable beds. As we booked for 2 days I was only refunded 50% of the second days stay and nothing else. Would have expected better even though I asked the service desk so unfortunately that's what dictated the review.

Excellent in parts but some small niggles and avoid the cottages in the summer
Pros:

Location, food, charm and character. Excellent parking if you have a trailer

Cons:

Cottages have very small windows and rooms have no airflow. No air conditioning so an uncomfortable hot night. Glasses in bathroom comically small and no coffee or tea making facility in the room

Nice stay. Love the river and gardens
Pros:

Lovely place, so convenient for Castle Donnington and access to East Midlands airport. Relaxing vibe. Shame it’s getting a bit tired and in need of some refurb.

Cons:

A little ‘tired’, eg windows all crumbling.
