amazing pools by the ocean
Would suggest to the hotel staff at the reception when you arrive to explain all the facilities (there are so many!!) and types of restaurants, instead of just saying scan the map with the QR code - for example nobody told me there was an internal pool with the sauna and jacuzzi! so no need to go and pay the big spa for that. Same, to find the opening times and menu of the restaurants I had to go and check them all - it was not on internet
The whatsapp chatbot works very bad - can be improved

This is not a 5 Star hotel, not even close!
This place is tired
Huge broken facade window, cracked old floor to ceiling mirrors in bathroom, moldy cracks, chipped bathroom tiles, wonky old shower. The finer almost completely gone from the bathroom door. A breakfast selection that was impressive yet bland.
Same applied to the evening buffet we tried once.
I wouldn't be surprtised if the VidaMar closed next year for a huge re-build or maybe demolition like other hotels are being left to decay and demolition.

Alle Zimmer liegen zur Meerseite, wodurch man das schöne Wellenrauschen und den Wind hört.
Durch eine Flugannullierung mussten wir unseren Aufenthalt spontan um zwei Nächte verlängern und buchten erneut dieselbe Zimmerkategorie. Dieses Mal erhielten wir jedoch ein Zimmer im 7. Stock, das deutlich älter und weniger ansprechend eingerichtet war als unser erstes Zimmer im 10. Stock. Bei gleicher Zimmerkategorie hätten wir uns hier eine vergleichbare Qualität gewünscht. Zudem standen bei der erneuten Anreise leider weder eine Flasche Wein noch Obst zur Begrüßung bereit, was wir beim ersten Aufenthalt als sehr nette Aufmerksamkeit empfunden hatten.
Das Frühstücksbuffet war insgesamt weiterhin in Ordnung, allerdings hätten wir bei einem 5-Sterne-Hotel etwas mehr Vielfalt erwartet. Besonders bei einem längeren Aufenthalt von 14 Tagen wirkte das Angebot recht eintönig und wiederholte sich nahezu täglich ohne größere Abwechslungen.
Weniger angenehm waren außerdem die lautstarken Polsterreinigungsarbeiten auf der seitlichen Außenterrasse direkt neben dem Frühstücksbereich. Während des Frühstücks empfanden wir dies als störend und für ein 5-Sterne-Hotel eher unpassend.
Beim Check-out sprachen wir die genannten Punkte freundlich an, hatten jedoch leider das Gefühl, dass die Hinweise an der Rezeption eher schulterzuckend zur Kenntnis genommen wurden. Das fanden wir sehr schade, da wir uns insgesamt etwas mehr Verständnis und Interesse am Feedback der Gäste gewünscht hätten.

Le côté un peu impersonnel de l'hôtel. Vous pouvez y rentrer comme vous voulez, pas forcément de bonjour à votre passage, ni de regard,
1. big outdoor swimming pool and external gym facility in another building with personal training guides. Avoid rush hours as the gym is open for public. Squash and other sports training programmes available as well
2. Big and clean room. We heard grass machine but it was acceptable
3. Good breakfast buffet - many choices. Fresh and delicious fruits
4. Book exchange corner and many sofas and quite spaces around the whole hotel
5. Sauna and steam facility for free
1. The main room door is not sound-proof, as there was a big gap in the bottom, so you may hear guests or staffs early in the morning.
2. Too many guests in the breakfast buffet but you can always find a seat
3. Some birds/ doves walking in the restaurant which is not hygienic enough
4. The staffs at reception and restaurant are friendly but not smiling

Pequeno almço deveria ter outra qualidade considerando que se trata de um hotel 5 estrelas
Super Lage, recht grosses Zimmer und absolut super mit zwei sehr grossen Betten ;-)
Sehr vielfältiges Frühstück, riesige Auswahl, sehr schön und sauber präsentiert, wird sehr aufmerksam nachgefüllt etc.
Ebenso das Abendbuffet - es hat für jeden Geschmack etwas.
Sehr nettes und hilfsbereites Personal. Top Beratung an der Reception!
Vielleicht könnte man ab und zu die Toilettenanlage beim Pool kontrollieren - da es wahrscheinlich nicht immer so 'saubere Gäste' hat...

Too far out of town
Es war in der Nähe von Funchal.
Das Person egal ob Reinigung, Restaurant oder Spa sie waren überall sehr sehr unfreundlich. Haben kaum jemanden ausreden lassen noch richtig einen gegrüsst. Die Kommunikation zwischen den Mitarbeitern war schlecht. Haben die Info am Vortag erhalten, dass der Spa bis 19:00 geöffnet hätte. Waren am nächsten Tag dort und um 18:00 wurde geschlossen. Die Mitarbeiter im Spa haben vor uns über uns schlecht gesprochen und und fast schon beschimpft, dass wir besser zuhören sollten. Katastrophe!

Zimmer sind zwar groß (wir hatten ein Familienzimmer) aber höchst renovierungsbedürftig: abgeschlagene Kästen, keine Sitzgelegenheit obwohl im Bild bei der Buchung eine Sofagruppe und ein Schreibtisch mit Sessel angezeigt wurden) - Bad: uralt mit Rostflecken am Spiegel und uralter Whirlpool-Badewanne
Frühstücksraum: Stoffsessel mit Flecken, alte Steintische, ebenfalls ziemlich fleckig
