Happy Dragon Imperial Garden Courtyard Beijing Forbidden City Newly renovated Fluent English speaking

This place is hard to find so we were lucky that we pre-booked transport from the airport direct to the hotel as it is situated in the middle of a Houtong (my spelling) and very had to find without specific instructions or a detailed map. The staff were exceptional and supported us with everything. We could name individuals, but that would not be fair on the others. Everyone, and they know they are, were wonderful. The room we had was quiet and directly opposite the central pond which itself was stacked full of Carp.

The breakfasts were fine, although if you did not get get there early it was difficult to find a table. But that is no reflection on the staff, just that there were few tables available. The beds were lovely, the shower worked very well and the hotel was lovely. Although we were in a small residential area off the main road, it was very peaceful and quiet and more importantly it was safe. At no time did we ever feel unsafe and the locals, often sitting outside on their chairs were very friendly too. We could walk through the area morning or night and we never felt we had to look over our shoulders.

We had not realised that the hotel was a short walk to the Forbidden city and we could have walked there ourselves in less than 45 minutes. But the staff arranged a trip for us and also arranged the transport. This was paid through the Wi Pay service. When we departed we decided to leave them a large tip because of the quality of service they had offered and the fact that we felt reassured throughout our time there. Would recommend this place to anyone coming to China, especially for the first time. The staff spoke English and when there were any difficulties they had translation apps on their phones which they were always happy to use. When we left they arranged a taxi for us and used the chat facility on their phone to ensure we went to the right part of the train station for the drop off. Absolutely wonderful time staying here.

Le personnel était très souriant et aux petits soins pendant tout le long du séjour. La literie était excellente, la chambre très confortable et propre. L’hôtel extrêmement bien situé : Un havre de paix dans les hutongs si typique.

Excellent service from the start. The staff members were very warm and friendly and went out of their way to help us. Even offered us a shower after we returned to collect our luggage after checking out in the morning. Special shout out to Rainy and Anda.

The staff were incredibly helpful. Julie was a great help to us both before we arrived and during our stay. We were able to have a shower after checking out, leave our luggage there, and they even arranged a taxi for us to the Great Wall of China. The breakfast was great too and had something for everyone.
