The service was upto my expectations.
perhaps the location and how the flooring is structured.
Had it not been for 1 staff, Vinuli, at the Front Desk, the stay here wld have been very, very dissappointing!
Breakfast spread was dissappointing!
Not sure if they were short staffed, service at breakfast was below average! But for a 5* rated hotel, this shld not be the experience for a paying guest!
Despite booking into the Executive Suite, service standards were way below that expected of an Executive Suite level!
Also the layout of the room, specifically the bathroom is not practical!
We stayed at this hotel for a week and if you by any chance have to stay in Colombo that long then I'd suggest you get an ocean front room. Our room was huge, it did not have a balcony but the view of the ocean was relaxing just by itself. The breakfast was also great, lots of options between asian and western, but I couldn't get away from the famous hoppers with egg as well as the dahl with milk rice. The coffee is espresso based and you may have as much as you'd like. There's an infinity pool on the top floor as well as a sauna and jacuzzi where the fitness center is. We definitely took advantage of all of those while we were there.
At times there was a weird sewer smell coming from the bathroom/toilet area, not sure what it was, but we didn't inform anyone about this since it was kind of sporadic. The area surrounding the hotel is crazy, with lots of traffic and it's not a pretty area per se, but it's very easy to get a tuk tuk with uber or their local app to take you wherever. For whatever reason it was very difficult to get things to dry inside the room, I think it had to do with the humidity level despite having the AC on the majority of the day.

The room was luxury type. In room dining was good. The staff cleaned the room well. Location wise was good. Easy access to certain areas. Since it was in the galle road transportation was easy.
The room space was small .The laundry service was hopeless. We had to wait more than a day to give the laundry as they kept saying they are coming to collect but never did. Both my husband and I kept calling and they kept saying they are coming and they never did and at one point when we rang the reception they cut the line. The other thing was, We stayed there for just three days and we ordered morning tea and got tea with spices added to it even though we requested just plain tea with milk on the side. Not all would like to drink tea with spices added to it. On top of that there were not much bathroom fittings in the bathroom which was very inconvenient when it came to hang clothes. Also some fittings were loose in the bath area. The wardrobe cupboard only had one door to cover a two door cupboard. So one side was fully opened which was abit odd and uncomfortable when inner clothes were kept inside the cupboard. The hanging wrack was about to break because the pole was very loose. So we couldn't hang much clothes on it even though there was ample space and hangers. The hotel looked luxury but the furniture fittings were cheap. The outdoor corridors had a funny smell.
