Very disappointing and poor value for money. There are other better quality options in the area
Pros:

The bedroom per se was a good size.

Cons:

The accommodation is described as deluxe and luxury rooms. The ensuite was cramped; no coat hooks or towel rail; no toilet roll holder and no hairdryer.
Breakfast is not served until 8.30 - too late for our plans; we wanted continental breakfast as advertised in the room but it was not available. There was no muesli. I was offered toast and jam instead, with the offer of a continental breakfast on day 2 but only at 8.30. We cancelled breakfast on day 2 because it was too late and requested a refund. We have not had any refund or response to our 3 attempts to contact the Star.

Fantastic!
Pros:

Perfect location. Very clean. Quick easy check in. I have to say, the food down in the restaurant was something else. Fresh, piping hot and absolutely delicious. I’d thoroughly recommend the garlic mushroom start and gammon steak main. Portion sizes were very generous and I was tempted but resisted dessert.
Allen was an amazing host who was very friendly and accommodating and made my stay comfortable. I’d not hesitate to stay here again. As a biker, this location was perfect with ample safe parking.

Great place to stay, good road links to York, Huge Scarborough
Pros:

Huge breakfast, delicious, served quickly and piping hot. Tremendous staff, attention to detail excellent. Nice location next to a duck/geese pond. Lovely room, recently upgraded to high standard. Oh, and good beer!

Cons:

Coffee was only OK. No juice/water at breakfast, though I'm sure they would have been provided if we'd asked. Found it a bit odd paying for the tab for the bar/dinner each night instead of at the end of stay, but not a big deal. We stayed during an exceptionally hot period and should that climate become common would need aircon

Pros:

The room was fantastic, and the bed so comfortable. The breakfast was 1st class and the staff went out of their way to make our stay an enjoyable one.

Cons:

There was no hand soap but that was soon rectified by the staff. The bathroom had no handrail or hook to hang our towels on, and there was no toilet roll holder, so the toilet roll was on the window shelf. The extractor fan didn't work and you could not open the bathroom window. Small points but would have 10 out of 10 otherwise.

A most pleasant stay
Pros:

Lovely welcome from the staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable with walk in shower. We were staying overnight whilst attending a wedding so we didn’t have an evening meal at the inn but the food looked good and breakfast was very nice. The inn is in a lovely village with a delightful duck pond next door.

Fantastic pub, fab food and beer, breakfast not served until 08.30, so missed out (but charged!)
Pros:

Brilliant pub, with welcoming staff. Excellent food (the lamb and mint pie was to die for), all washed down with a couple of pints of excellent locally brewed beer. Room comfy and nice view of the duck pond from the window.

Cons:

I was disappointed that even though I booked bed and breakfast, I had a (fairly) early start and needed to leave by 7.45, but was informed that breakfast service didn't start until 08.30! Maybe this is acceptable at the weekend, but on a week day? I was given some excuse that the landlady was working late and had to cater for dinners in the restaurant until late (as far as I could see, I was the only dinner and was finished and up to my room by 20.00). I also noticed, when scanning my receipt for our accountancy software), that I had been charged £12 for a breakfast that I had just been told was not going to happen. So I went off to my meeting and first substantial food was the sandwich lunch at 13.00. Not ideal.
