Wasn't quite sure what to expect of a Community Run Pub and Hotel in a very quiet village but really hit the mark on all counts. Looked very much like it had recently been refurbished, several different areas to eat and a beer garden with gorgeous views. The menu choice was standard pub fare but definitely homemade and nicely presented and reasonably priced.
We booked a bigger bedroom and it had a huge bathroom and all fittings were a high standard .
Particular call out for the staff, especially the barman who went out of his way to give us some excellent driving road recommendations.
Nothing
Gluten free menu - as a Coeliac I had lots of options, which I wasn't expecting outside a city centre
We had the same room as the year before; it's showing some signs of wear. Grout stains, handles held on with Blu-Tack.
The breakfast was just OK, was better last year (to my memory) - so we chose to eat elsewhere for breakfast.
Hele fijne badkamer (ruim). Vriendelijk personeel.
Staff were friendly and helpful. They played the England match which was a bonus. Very nice room
Glan Yr Afon is a beautiful building in a lovely village. We stayed in room 4 which was excellent. The bed was comfortable and fan provided to combat the exceptional heat was very quiet and effective. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast choices are great and the restaurant food is superb. If you stay here and want to eat in the restaurant, do book ahead as it is very popular. Thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay and dine.
Lovely quiet village location with easy access to places we wished to visit. A nice large car park.
Unfortunately we stayed on a Sunday night and the pub only served lunches.
Very well presented and clean
My last day I decided I would shower early after my shave however as the water at 0810 ran cold and never got warm I being a complete coward decided against a cold shower or the risk of such
Breakfast very good.
The room really needs a chair of sort description.
Comfortable and clean, staff very friendly and helpful . Breakfast excellent. Nice location
Nothing comes to mind
Location
The external part of the hotel was dirty & untidy and needed a clean up.
Front door entrance in particular was filthy.
The room that I was staying in was ok but the floor under thd bed hadn't been cleaned for a while.
A friendly atmosphere but struggle to get response from wanted to book table for the evening as from previous stay know they get busy at weekends but when got there struggled to book a as they hadn’t responded and didn’t have a booking. Did accommodate us in the end.
Room was little small booked the larger room before and wish had paid for that one as other room was very cramped and noisy as was a
Private function on until late.
Such a lovely location, amazing pub filled with great people, both staff and customers! Will definitely stay again!
Beautiful surroundings, good food and clean rooms.
Nice clean & comfortable.
Glan yr Afon is a community pub and hotel and is run by very friendly and committed staff. They made us very welcome and gave us the best breakfast ever. They also provided us with terrific local information which went above and beyond any guide book. The location was quite lovely and it was super seeing so many swallows and swifts in the garden.
nothing
Fantastic room, lovely riverside location in quiet village, good food, friendly staff
Nothing
Your young girl coped very well.
Bedside tables tiny, and too low. They should be as high as the top of the bed, and at least two sq ft .
Very friendly and accommodating staff
Nothing I particularly didn’t like, but I did think it was rather expensive for what it was? That said, most of Wales is?
A very quiet hotel, staff were exceptional, nice garden for a drink and good food, all reasonably priced.
