Nothing
Put in an attic room in a property away from the main hotel. I appreciate the uk is in a heatwave but you would not be allowed to keep animals in a room that hot and the fan provided inadequate. Worst 2 nights I've ever had in a hotel.
Ideal location
We stayed for one night and, for what we needed, it was perfectly adequate.
The positives were the excellent location for Jesmond, and the free parking (although it’s limited and can’t be guaranteed). The price was also very reasonable for the area. Despite being in a busy location, the room was surprisingly quiet. There were plenty of plug sockets too, which was a nice touch.
The main disappointment was that we weren’t actually staying in the hotel advertised, but in the building across the road with an unmanned reception. This is mentioned in the small print, but it wasn’t obvious when booking. It gave the impression that unless you book one of the higher-standard rooms, you’re likely to be placed in the annex.
The room itself was very small, as was the bathroom. The shower tray didn’t drain properly, so after a couple of minutes the water overflowed onto the bathroom floor. The sink also drained very slowly.
Overall, if you’re just looking for somewhere to sleep for the night in a great location at a good price, it’s fine. However, if you’re expecting more of a hotel experience, you may be disappoint
Location
No ventilation in the bathrooms, unfriendly staff. Weeds and litter on entrance
Good location. Guy who checked us in was nice and helpful.
We were told when parking we would block someone in, but that it would be fine we may just get a call in the morning to move. We didn’t expect that call at 7am!
Reception staff on the morning were pretty rude. She wasn’t apologetic for ringing and waking us at 7am to move our car. When we went down the next morning to check out, she was busy having a conversation with another staff member which seemed more important than assisting us, which came across quite rude.
The location was handy for what we had planned for our stay.
Our room (305) was at the very top of the building and as we went up to our room you could feel the building getting warmer and warmer until we got to our room which was boiling hot and due to there being restraints on the windows we couldn’t open them enough to get any cold air in to the room.
not a lot to be fair.
the room was in another building across and down the road from where I thought I was staying, I don't recall seeing anything with regards being part of a collection or I would have choose to stay elsewhere.
the hotel across the road was ok, i did make the mistake of booking a twin room which was resolved and we got moved.
the hotel is above a very bust student pub which was very noisy and to make matter worse there was night time roadworks which kept us awake, these works would have notified businesses in the area, yet we didn't get any notification about these works, reception staff didn't even comment on them when checking in.
the room itself was ok, bed comfortable, bathroom clean. nowhere to hang towels within the bathroom, but generally the experience wasn't great due to the stay in the hotel across the road and not the cairn hotel as expected, very misleading and we made the decision not to walk back upto the cairn to eat food or use the bar facility.
not great at all.
Good
Property was affordable
Was put in the other location they had. Was right above a student bar which got very loud. No issues otherwise. Get what you pay for. Would use again if needed
