Charming hotel with french touch and restaurant
I emailed them the morning of attempting transportation from the airport to the hotel and they were quick to respond and coordinate the taxi for us. We landed early and the taxi was already waiting, so that was wonderful.
At check-in, the staff was very welcoming and helpful.
The hotel is located near a lot of bars just footsteps away and restaurants.
The staff was very helpful at check out, once again coordinating a taxi to the airport.
My only concern, was the showerhead was cracked so it sprayed water a bit, but that wasn't a big issue for me.
I STAYED 3 NIGHTS AT LOS ROBLES. Hotel Los Robles is a classical Central American neo-colonial 14 room hotel. Most of the rooms border a central courtyard open to the sky with covered Verandas/Corridors providing direct access to the rooms. The courtyard contains a cooling and softly burbling fountain and is full of cool, lush grenery. The neo-colonial archetecture, design features and materials are all of a superior quality, and would date, I would guess, to the 1960's, as best as I can make out. To call the common room, dining room and patios pleasant and comfortable would be a considerable understatement. It is a place with modern amenities in a tasteful colonial setting. I would call the hotel classically elegant.
It is worth noting that the hotel also operates a French Restaurant, Cafe de la Paris, which is referred to in one local review as "the best international restaurant in Managua". This is not surprising. The food is nothing short of superb, clearly prepared by an excellent chef. I started with their French Onion Soup, which is the best I have ever tasted. Substituting a rich, heartly and beefy soup over the usual clear broth in this classic, and topped with large chunks of melted cheese it is a one of. This was followed by a mouthwatering Red Snapper cooked to perfection in a meunier sauce with a generous helping of capers. I regretted that the fish came to an end. It was accompanied by almond rice, beautifully sauteed vegetables and a fresh tasting salad vinaigrette.
The pool at the hotel is like a work of art, with three spouts of water issuing into it from sculptures on the adjoining wall. The crystaline water was delightfully cool.
Finally, the desk staff recommended an excellent driver and accompanying English speaking tour guide who transported me over 5 hours to a number of locations I asked for, including a private art gallery, at a very reasonable price. This enriched my stay considerably.
My experience was wonderful.
