Ban Ao Thong is a vintage hotel in an excellent location across from Trang's railway station and near downtown eateries, bars and cafés. Its decor may seem a bit twee at first, but it grows on you as you start to appreciate the ornate wooden sculptures and mid-century elements. It has a lively bar/restaurant downstairs if you're stuck for ideas on where to go.
The ground floor bar can be a bit noisy for early-to-bed guests, but seems to shut down at a decent hour. The AC unit is positioned directly over the bed, and being as old as much of the decor, the louvers are inoperable. That means the air blasted directly onto the bed, requiring some jury-rigging to push them upward.
Great classic style hotel. Exceptional value, staff and location. Would definitely stay here again if visiting trang in the future. ,
La situation est impeccable : en plein centre à deux pas de marchés, de la gare et commerces.
Le personnel est agréable. Apparemment le resto ouvert le soir donne bonne imporession mais nous n'avons pas eu l'occasion de la tester, nous avons fuit avant cela !
4ème étage, sans ascenseur, des escaliers casse-gueule. Sur les photos le balcon semble joli, une fois sur place c'est une espèce de terrasse avec de la pelouse synthétique.
Nous avions réservé pour 7 nuits, étant arrivés après 14h00 il était trop tard, nous avons dû passer une nuit (nous étions fatigués et pas envie de chercher un hotel alternatif à cette heure tardive) mais nous avons immédiatement annulé les autres nuits pour partir au plus vite. Le personne a été agréable et grâce à booking nous avons été remboursés immédiatement, mais même si nous n'avions pas été remboursés nous ne serions pas restés.
Même si la chambre était propre, j'avais l'impression de dormir chez ma grand-mère, et qu'on ne me dise pas que la déco est typiquement thailandaise, je n'ai jamais vu de si mauvais goûts de déco chez mes amis thaïs !
Encore une fois, je ne jette pas la pierre au personnel, ils furent compréhensifs.
Si vous aimez les escaliers et la déco old school cela vous conviendra probablement (ou alors avoir une chambre au rez ou au 1er, mais sans balcon et certaines chambres sans fenêtres).

It's a wonderful place. Railway station out back. Court out front. Pretty art pieces, and usually a folk guitar troubador of an evening on the patio. Grand place.
