The staff were extremely friendly and helpful
I asked to change rooms (I paid to upgrade) and it was handled fast and with no trouble whatsoever
There is no food options
We have stated before the staff are always pleasant and there to help and beds are always comfy!
Aircon would not turn off and room was freezing, our tap wasn’t working great and heated floor wasn’t working
Classic, super-comfy rooms, cosy and full of atmosphere. Lovely hotel altogether. Most customer-friendly staff. Perfect position for visiting Edinburgh centre, castle, Royal Mile, etc. All the main attractions within walking distance, as well as many nice restaurants, pubs and cafés.
The only comment that I can include in this section is that the duvets were too hot for this season.
Friendly staff.
Small room and only received 1 welcome drink.
Staff were excellent and the hotel was lovely. We added the treat me like I’m famous package and it was so worth it. Highly recommend
Roomservice. Easy connection with the staff.
The windows where not possible to
Open to get fresh air. No locks on the bathroom door
Ovanligt och unikt
Inga fönster och smala sängar
Staff were excellent, really friendly and helpful.
Room was a little bit tired and could do with updating.
Breakfast was not included.
Room and bathroom too small. Dark corridors. No windows
Beautiful charming hotel, the staff were incredible welcoming and the warm milk and cookies at bedtime were amazing!
Slightly challenging to fit large luggage in room
Breakfast fantastic
Room was very small .
It’s unusual and a novelty to stay for the experience. It’s funky, eccentric and retro vibes. I paid treat me like I’m famous which is a good package but still really expensive considering the amount for the room itself.
Unfortunately not somewhere I would stay again. The duvet sheet was ripped, large hair ball in between the towels. The vintage looking bedspread and cushions were dirty and I wonder if they are washed every time the change of guests. It’s really dark and I know it’s part of the theme but there should be an option to have brighter lights especially for people with bad eyesight or need to apply makeup.
Lack of facilities for eating is a little disappointing but I get its house of gods signature experience. With breakfast the coffee and tea were in a cardboard cup, the price of the room itself and then I added extra treat me like I’m famous package was quite poor for the cost.
House of Gods was a lovely short stay for us in Edinburgh. The service of staff was fantastic, and they were very prompt in responding to our queries (a.k.a cocktail orders).
While the rooms are small, this didn't bother us at all - and we were very well rested!
The milk and cookies was a highlight for sure, and the breakfast hamper was great to get us started and on our way for the day.
If you know what you're signing up to (small rooms, wetroom for a bathroom, WhatsApp) - its a wonderful stay in central Old Town.
We've stayed in price equivalent hotels across the world (not a brag, just gives us a place to compare from), and House of Gods - while modern in its staff & service - could feel somewhat dated in some areas.
While the staff service was great, the use of WhatsApp undercut the 'upmarketness' (though I understand why, given the no signal) - particularly when some staff used super casual language; as did the other utilities in the room (hairdryer was no different than a 3* hotel [QT uses Dyson], TV was old and didn't have streaming services [as far as we could tell without a functioning remote], remote didn't really work even with new batteries, one light didn't work, no robe/slippers, one-use toiletries in packets/pouches which were hard to open when in the shower).
Small things, but if upgraded, would have really left an impression.
Also, we were *repeatedly* offered an upgrade for a room which - when I looked online - would have only cost us maybe 10 pounds more (if I had booked then and there). I raised this, but they weren't flexible on the price (on the 3+ times they asked us if we wanted to upgrade) - which felt like we were just another credit card to run; so we declined.
Very quirky and luxurious.
