They moved our room to accommodate my partner with her disability
Took a few minutes for someone to come to reception
Ryan, who's usually at The Swan Alton was excellent. The remaining staff were friendly and helpful
The building is in need of updating and repair as is the furniture and facilities.
The windows and patio doors had rotted so the room felt unsecure, locks are wholly inadequate.
Perfect to travel to Southampton in morning
Very noisy from 5am the people next door were chatting, blowing their nose and banging
Close to where I needed to be
Lack of staff- waited 20 minutes to check in and was largely ignored by bar staff.
No toilet roll in bathroom
Staff in restaurant in the morning were miserable
Room was of good size with comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean, well lit with decent towels and toiletries.
Agreed with other contributors that road noise was minimal as room was located to rear overlooking an open grassed area. Internal courtyard was very pleasant for a quiet drink after a long drive. Breakfast was good with a decent variety of cooked and cereal options available. Staff were polite and good humoured during our stay although notably stretched on occasions between serving in bar area and reception.
Corridor lighting could be better finding keylock in door a little trying. Evening meal was disappointing ( steak and Ale Pie ) turned to be a pastry vessel for gravy! no discernible meat content whatsoever with a gravy boat for good measure. An “ Awarded Winning” pie seemed misplaced on this occasion with no query from staff on uneaten remains ?
Stated several times. Always comfortable and clean.
The restaurant lets it down all the time.
Not the waitresses they do what they can. But the food always takes a long time to come out, just lately it’s not been very good at all. This time was really not good.
Loving staying here as so dog friendly, I don't know of any other hotel that you have patio doors out onto a grass area from your room. Fantastic more hotels need to do this!!
Liked the location, clean, nice spacious room nicely decorated. Glad to have a cool room, during the heatwave. Good breakfast taken in the courtyard. Fan, Iron and Hairdryer all in room.
The bed, was low and squeaky, the mattress was soft and spring less, needs replacing
Good sized, clean rooms, good bathroom. Bar and restaurant were good with lovely central courtyard area where we enjoyed having breakfast outside.
Staff did very well, but under pressure.
All of it just a fab hotel
Arrived late evening on a Sunday and the restaurant was closed so had to pop over the dual carriage way to get sandwiches at a fuel station
The room was good
The food. Do not eat there. There was hardly anyone there but it took 2h for 5 of us to get just starters and a main course. The starters were mostly awful although the mains were just okay. The staff didn't seem bothered or sorry about the food. The so called king prawns with tails on starter had just 3 frozen prawns without tails for £8.50. I complained about these and at least they didn't charge us for them but no apology. One of my wife's 2 salmon fish cakes on her main meal had no salmon in it! The meat dishes were better but not great. There are so many nice places to eat in Ringwood town center just a few miles away!
Location
Burnt fried eggs and poor cooked breakfast. Continental was great
Breakfast I chose was a full English. It was over cooked, bacon almost burnt, very dry, possibly one of the worst I have had for some time. The chef, appeared to spend most of his time wandering around so not surprised it was poor.
Nice clean hotel
Contractors beware. The car park is not safe and there’s a high crime rate for vans being done, including the travel lodge opposite
