Really pretty pub. Lovely staff. Beautifully decorated room. Very comfortable bed. Very nice bathroom with lovely toiletries. Great breakfast. We loved our stay!
Not a negative but to be aware of, the car park is quite small and was full when we arrived. The town is usually very busy at the weekend and we spent some time driving up and down the high street looking for parking.
Room was small but just fine (room 4). We noticed another bigger and more attractive room across the hall (room 2). Restaurant area nicely decorated and comfortable. Very good breakfast (lots of nice homemade/ high quality continental choices) and enjoyed our dinner, too. Friendly front of house.
Room was noisy, as all rooms sit above the restaurant I suppose this is to be expected.
Could do with more attention to detail with cleaning/dusting in rooms and restaurant. (Lamps and some surfaces dusty, bench seat at dinner had crumbs, sticky table)
Service at dinner was slow as only one server for a very busy night.

Bit too noisy as rooms above busy pub. Room was well equipped but small , however accepted its a very old building so limited scope.
Breakfast was delicious and there was a good range. parking is really good. The self access tea & soft drinks was very welcomed. Food was delicious.
The decor is a beautiful but there is some wear and tear to the furnishings. The noise from the bar below was quite noticeable in my room right up to 10pm, and I could hear staff beyond 11.
The property is on the river Test and the high street so couldn’t be in a better location. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Food was excellent and the room was large with an extremely comfortable bed.
Nothing
It was perfectly situated on the high street of Stockbridge with lots of restaurants nearby. It was also right on the River Test with beautiful scenery and walks nearby. The hotel itself had friendly and helpful staff and the food was exceptional. It was our second visit and we will be back again. Great for dogs!
The bed was a little on the small side for us.
Location and staff
Room size and evening meal. Fantastic beetroot trout and trout croquet starters but very poor prawn and chorizo main. Overcooked,put under a heater possibly. Mille feuille dessert tasted good but pastry dense and stale...hard to break with a fork.
Everything had been carefully thought out, both in the from and in the bar area. Someone had put a lot of thought ( and experience) into what people need.
We only booked for one night, will be back!

Welcoming staff, who were all very helpful, cosy pub feel, location , with a delightful garden in the river .
Close to the road and a little noisy , bathroom shower front a bit tatty , but this is only minor .
