You do walk through what seems not a great area to get to the metro but we had no problems and used a small local shop several times for water etc

The property does not match the impression created by the photos. Images are enhanced, with many focusing on nearby landmarks, while the hotel itself feels far less spacious and polished in reality.

The location, although close to the Temple of Heaven, is down a very narrow inner street in a rather run down area. Larger taxis cannot reach the entrance, so arrival involves being dropped on the main road and walking in, which felt genuinely deflating. I'm including comparison photos: advertised vs actual entrance & lobby.

The lobby is another example. What is presented as a polished space with a decorative glass floor and fish tank was, in reality, cluttered and poorly maintained, with luggage and personal belongings left around and cats roaming freely. The “feature” fish tank itself was empty, with only condensation and patches of moss visible.

Rooms were clean and beds comfortable, but they were extremely small and very noisy. In our room, there was also a persistent sewage smell coming from the bathroom.

Communication before arrival was frustrating. Despite booking nearly two months in advance with clear details of our family (2 adults and 3 children aged 21, 18 and 15), messages in Mandarin, even when translated, were confusing and repetitive. It remains unclear why the booking was accepted if the hotel could not accommodate us, and why it was presented as suitable on the platform.

We were told to amend the booking via the app, which was not possible, and then, just 30 mins. before arrival, advised to cancel, despite it being a national holiday weekend with virtually no availability elsewhere.

The room provided did not accommodate us properly. Our 2 adult sons, both close to 2 metres tall, had to share a smaller than normal double bed for three nights.

The cherry over the cake: The lift button also gave a small electric shock when pressed, which rather summed up the experience.

I could clearly hear both sides of my neighbours. One man was snoring so loud while the other had a family and it was just noisy. I had to sleep with earplugs which made a better sleeping experience.

Maybe it was a bit too far from the Metro lines… wish they had more local restaurants around. But the ones they did have tasted really good just down the street on your left. There’s a steam bao place, that was our to go to breakfast place. So cheap too!

The room we were in smelt like someone had been chain smoking in there. The hotel is a smoke-free hotel and unfortunately was fully booked so we couldn’t change rooms. The room itself was otherwise comfortable. Not as close to tourist points as we would’ve liked.

It was a little bit far from the station (around 15 minutes). I didn't really mind walking, but if you don't like it, better to rent bike or go by the bus.
