The location is literally in the heart of an Old City and pretty close to the key sightseeing points or metro.
The ladies serving the breakfast were also very kind and friendly. The breakfast itself was also pretty decent and I guess it would be hard to have anything close to eat before 12 in any restaurants around.
One of our receptionist (Gusal) was especially helpful and empathetic during our stay in the replacement room! To him we are very thankful for HONEST care and desire to improve the situation and our disappointment with the fact that we didn't get the room we booked 3 months in advance.

Cons:

We selected this specific room a long time in advance and selected exactly this one because we wanted a common space for our family and modern bathroom and proper beds, including separate beds.
When we arrived it was obvious that our room was given to other group of people who arrived earlier - it was obvious by all mismatches in the information the receptionist who checked us in (Yusif) was giving. First he said that "they booked that room before you", then "there was a system mistake" when I asked how is it possible then and why the room was shown as free when we were booking it and still shown as free in booking the days we arrived for our dates. Then he started lying about some issues with the window, as if it was broken. Like mln of reasons and all felt like fake.
So instead of our room we got first two separate small rooms with very bad bathrooms - not properly cleaned, traces of mold... So we got an impression that people who got our room refused to stay in those and this receptionist decided to trick us.
I had to insist on providing us the condition which we ordered. We were asked to wait for two days to get another accomodation.
Another accomodation was better space-wise and receptionist who us there and checked us out was the kindest person we met there. The other accomodation was a family-set with a living room and kitchen and two separate rooms with double beds and cupboards. We even had the balcony and could have breakfast on the upper terrace with quite nice view). ACs were working well which is good during such heat.

Хорошее местоположение. Все в шаговой доступности. Персонал приветливый.

Cons:

Немного сложновато добираться (физически). Но нужно учитывать что это старый город.
Магазины продуктовые в окрестности дорогие.
Завтраки были, но не всем они понравятся.

Soggiorno perfetto nel cuore di Baku. Consigliatissimo!
Pros:

Ho soggiornato al Sands of Time e non avrei potuto fare scelta migliore. La posizione è ottima, proprio nel cuore della Città Vecchia, ideale per girare a piedi. La camera rispecchia gli standard locali ma si distingue per essere pulitissima. Ho apprezzato molto l'attenzione ai dettagli: la stanza è dotata di un set di accoglienza completo con ciabattine, accappatoi e kit monouso con spazzolino e dentifricio, cosa non scontata e molto utile. La colazione è prevalentemente salata con una piccola selezione dolce, ma ciò che ha fatto la differenza è stata la proprietaria. È stata estremamente attenta e disponibile: sapendo che preferiamo la colazione dolce, si è resa disponibile ogni mattina per proporci alternative e soddisfare i nostri gusti. Le procedure di check-in e check-out sono state rapidissime, senza alcuna perdita di tempo. In sintesi, è stato tutto perfetto. Un posto che consiglio vivamente a chiunque visiti Baku!

Cons:

La presenza della vasca da bagno anzichè la doccia come sarebbe preferibile nelle strutture moderne.
