The Coconut Gardens Hotel & Restaurant

We had a lovely and comfortable time here! The staff were so kind and attentive - definitely a highlight of our trip! The food in the restaurant was delicious and we enjoyed dining there every night. Bed was comfortable and room was clean - recommend if staying in Yala!

Alles was hier geweldig! Het resort ziet er prachtig en schoon uit! De chalets zijn erg ruim en schoon, een paar weken geleden zijn er vier nieuwe chalets geopend. Alles is mooi afgewerkt! Het personeel is ontzettend vriendelijk en staan altijd voor je klaar! Het eten is voortreffelijk! Het ontbijt is erg uitgebreid en met name de kokos pannenkoeken zijn erg lekker! ‘‘s avonds heerlijk gegeten in de tuin met hele sfeervolle verlichting. De kersen op taart is natuurlijk de safari geweest, welke wij via het hotel hebben geboekt. Het ontbijt en de lunch wat wij mee hebben gekregen was uitgebreid. De driver had veel ervaring en deed zijn uiterste best om ons de luipaarden en olifanten te laten zien. Wij werden lucky family genoemd, omdat we maar liefst 3 luipaarden hebben gezien. Onze kinderen vonden het fantastisch en wij ook! Via het hotel zijn we dor de eigenaar naar onze nieuwe locatie gebracht. Zo leuk dat hij voor ons kokosnoten kocht om te drinken. Wij zouden hier zo weer boeken!

The spacious rooms, comfortable beds and bathroom (all new when we arrived). The pool is very large too. The whole setting of the resort is well thought out. Breakfast is also a party.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. Throughout our stay, we felt well looked after and really enjoyed our time here. I would happily recommend this hotel to others.

The only reason I’m not giving this hotel a 10 is because of my experience with the prices offered by the manager for transport and excursions.

For example, I asked the manager to arrange transport to our next destination. The quoted price was more than €50 higher than the price offered by the driver who had brought us to the hotel. Later, I arranged a safari myself through Google and not only found a better safari park, but also paid roughly €50 less than the hotel’s offer.

When I mentioned the difference, I was told the higher price was because they used a “better vehicle.” However, after travelling extensively around Sri Lanka in different vans and buses, I can honestly say that wasn’t the case. The vehicle I eventually travelled in was excellent and certainly didn’t justify such a large price difference.

I also made the mistake of paying my hotel bill in Sri Lankan rupees after converting the amount myself. In hindsight, paying in euros would actually have been cheaper, and I ended up paying almost €30 more because of the exchange rate. That was my own mistake, so I don’t blame the hotel for that.

What disappointed me wasn’t the money itself. It was the feeling that the manager was trying to maximize what a guest would pay instead of helping guests get a fair price. At several other hotels in Sri Lanka, the owners genuinely tried to find us the best and most affordable transport options, even if that meant earning less themselves. That level of honesty and customer care leaves a lasting impression.

Apart from this issue, I really have nothing to complain about. The hotel itself is excellent, the staff are wonderful, and we truly enjoyed our stay.

Abbiamo usufruito anche della piscina al rientro da un'escursione ed è stato un valore aggiunto visto il caldo. Menzione speciale allo staff e in particolare alla ragazza che ci serviva la colazione e la cena, gentilissima, sempre sorridente e disponibile alle nostre richieste. Abbiamo cenato entrambe le sere in hotel ed ho mangiato i migliori kottu roti e rice&curry di tutto il viaggio

What a wonderful surprise arriving here to the amazing resort style with large pool and excellent facilities plus great food. We wished we could stay longer. Huge room, best on our travels. Safari organised through them good value too.

Dit hotel is echt een pareltje van begin tot einde! We hadden een nieuwe kamer, 1ste gebruik waarbij een kleine ceremonie plaatsvond waarbij we een lint mochten doorknippen om de kamer officieel te openen.
Personeel is extreem vriendelijk, tuin en zwembad zijn top, en het diner in het restaurant was erg lekker.

Het waren prachtige kamers in huisjes. 1 boven en 1 beneden. Wij hadden een bovenverdieping met z’n vieren. Echt een prima kamer. Alles was schoon. Het restaurant eigenlijk fantastisch en de eigenaar kan tegen een schappelijke prijs een safari regelen. Het zwembad is betrekkelijk groot. En er zijn meer dan voldoende bedjes.

Everything! We genuinely couldn't find a single thing to complain about. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, the restaurant served delicious food, and the rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. The swimming pool was perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. This was by far our favourite place we stayed during our trip to Sri Lanka, and we would happily stay here again.

From the moment we arrived until we checked out, the service was exceptional. A special thank you to the lovely young lady who took care of all our needs with a beautiful smile every single day. All made us feel truly welcome. The entire staff was incredibly friendly, kind, and attentive throughout our stay. The food was absolutely delicious, with every meal being fresh and full of flavor. Set in a beautiful, peaceful location, the hotel offers the perfect escape for anyone looking to relax and unwind. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would happily stay here again.
