The owners were so friendly and helpful. Little touches like classical music playing when we entered the room (on the TV to make an awesome atmosphere), a fan as it was really warm outside, some vegan biscuits to have with my cup of tea, robes for use after the bath.
Vegan breakfast was really delicious. Lovely relaxing atmosphere.

Because the room had no air con a fan was provided but because of the heat the window needed to be open and it was very noisy outside.

Nothing was all great
This hotel couldn’t possibly be more central, and I loved this aspect of it. My large window opened onto the bustling thoroughfare of Low Petergate and it was great to be in the midst of the buzz. But this was also a downside, because noise was an issue, particularly from the dawn clatter of refuse and delivery trucks. In the heat of summer, the rooms were on the warm side too.
Apart from that, a pleasant stay, and I would consider a return trip. The building is old and characterful, a bit worn in parts, but the bedroom was nicely decked out, the bed comfortable, and most importantly, there was a kettle and good supply of Yorkshire T bags. The inclusive breakfast was excellent, served in the charming ‘Forest’ restaurant.

Street volume hustle and bustle but perfectly understandable for the central location.
Charming little boutique hotel right in the middle of the old town next door to York Minster. My room had a view of the Minster if one leaned out of the window. Breakfast was included A La Carte. Recommended.
