Location food staff great. Bedrooms need work
Pros:

Good location, excellent food. Very welcoming staff.

Cons:

For the price paid the room and en-suite were extremely dated and worn. Very dusty and crumbs left on bedside table from previous guest.

Cons:

Show.er was erratic. Get the temperature of the water to your liking, start to shower and the water stops. Had to play with controls to get it working. Happened more than once while having a shower

Great location on 500 with excellent views, staff and food.
Pros:

Great atmosphere. Staff friendly and engaging. Bar clearly the ‘local’ for the village. Good food at dinner and breakfast. Great location for 500. Comfy bed.

Cons:

Room was a little small. Bathroom walls marked and possible vomit staining behind sink - not new.

Very nice place to stay along the seashore of a sweet little town in a gorgeous area of Scotland.
Pros:

The location was excellent and all the staff were very nice. Had excellent trout dinner at restaurant. I booked single room facing the back for the price but would consider a bay view room as a nicer option.

Clean, Convenient stop on NC500
Pros:

The location was beautiful overlooking a loch with an island and a convenient stop between Skye and Ullapool that allowed us to backtrack and do Bealach Na Ba Road when the weather improved. They had a nice restaurant and bar. Shannon the desk clerk was delightful although it took a while to get her to the desk to check us in because she was also busy waiting tables in the restaurant. Parking was very convenient.

Cons:

Didn’t like that I had to wait a while for Shannon to come to the desk to check us in but realize now she was busy waiting tables.

Food and staff were excellent. Outstanding location. Parking right outside with amazing views.

Draft from closed windows made room cool. Had to leave central heating on constant to keep room warm.

Die Lage ist das einzige, was fantastisch ist.

Cons:

Der Preis ist für das, was man bekommt viel zu hoch. Der Service ? den gibt es eigentlich nicht . Weder beim Check in - "da ist der Schlüssel"... noch beim Frühstück. Wenn man es einplanen kann, weiterfahren und eine andere Unterkunft suchen. Das Hotel ist spooky, absolut in die Jahre gekommen und im Zimmer, welches zwar einen guten Blick auf die Bucht hatte, war es feucht.

Really great overall
Pros:

Staff were awesome, so welcoming and friendly. Bed in room very comfortable. Restaurant is fantastic absolutely delicious, and the vibe at the bar is great!

Cons:

Shower was diabolical- no hot water at 8pm on our arrival night. Got up at 5am to retry and shower swung from scalding hot to icy in seconds without adjustment. For the price the shower definitely should be usable. A shame as the rest was absolutely great

Pros:

Old building, looks very tired on entrance, but rooms were clean & have done what they can for an old building. Staff were very pleasant & friendly. Restaurant upstairs was good . Breakfast was good cooked to order.

Cons:

Just look beyond first appearance.

5 Stars for Tigh an Eilean
Pros:

I fell in love not just with Shieldaig but this wonderful little hotel - Tigh an Eilean.

It is true that the location is beautifully breathtaking, but more importantly, it was the staff that made this a 5 star experience.

Located right on the bay, with a view of the White Tail Eagle Sanctuary Island, this is a wonderful retreat from the busyness of everyday life.

I would love to spend even more time there in the future.

Cons:

Access to restaurants and other stores is limited in this location. However all the necessities are covered.

Loved this place! Felt like I was in a little village in Ireland! The view/setting is stunning, ignoring the pesky midges! I had dinner here in the evening - fantastic service; my waiter was hilarious! I was made to feel so welcome. Food fantastic, staff amazing, location stunning and a lovely room.
