Couldn’t fault anything
Staff were friendly and attentive, there seemed to be a good workplace community. Room had everything I needed, and the bed was comfortable.
Room was not very soundproof but the hotel was quiet at night so this wasn't a big problem :)
A very good choice of breakfast. All served to table, which made it a bit slow but as we were not in a rush it didn't matter.
The evening dinner menu was very good and our choice, the fish, was really inventive and delicious, as were the snacks and starters. Good wines. Lovely bedroom and a sweet village to have evening walks around.
Everybody was very friendly and happy to chat. Little or no commercialisation to spoil the restful atmosphere.
Both dinner and breakfast service could have been a little more organised, we seemed to be waiting around, or trying to locate staff. Perhaps they were short staffed.
(Unfortunately the whole of the road in front of the hotel was out of bounds because of protracted excavations for utilities works. Although the staff were very helpful with information, the detour round country roads must have been tedious for regulars, and damaging for business over all. This was entirely OK for us but just bad luck for the whole village.)

Room very hot and fan was weak
Beautiful room which looked like it had been recently decorated. Very comfortable bed. Nice bathroom with bath and shower. Friendly staff. We didn’t have dinner at the hotel as we were going to a party but breakfast was great.
The road closure is a nuisance bout that’s not in the Crown’s control. Our only tiny criticism of the room was that there was no electric socket near a mirror for the hairdryer.
We liked everything, from the ambience to the style, decoration and the staff. The food was great too.

Lovely room, very clean and comfortable
On arrival, we were offered a flask of fresh milk to take to our room - a nice touch. The cooked breakfast was excellent. It was good to be offered a jug of fruit juice when ordering tea and coffee.
One of us had sirloin steak and the other venison on the first night. Both were a little tough.
Great team to look after us, makes all the difference. Genuinely character property, v comfortable rooms. Restaurant dinner and breakfast all top notch. Nice gardens for a drink early evening
