Pyrmont Guest House Air-Con

I could not find the property because it is advertised as Pyrmont Guest House, but it is actually called Paragon. I had to call several times before someone would answer my call and point me in the right direction. Even when I found out I was in the correct spot, they would not face time with me to show me where to go and what to do. The code system of check in is no good when the codes are not working.

There was no overhead light or bed side lights, only a standing lamp away from the bed. There was no TV or fan, it was a very basic room. There were no towels or hand dryers in the bathroom. Also, the electronic locks chimed when used which reverberated on the hard surfaces.

Everything other reviews say. Obnoxious AC, dirty carpet, busted bed frame, only 2 towels (and they were stained), busted chair, no hair dryer, no amenities, mouldy big shower head, soundproofing from outside,

The room has a pretty musty smell which was off putting. There were no ceiling lights to use which was frustrating to not have.

The other guests weren’t bad but definitely not quiet when closing the door.

The bed sheets were old that really isn’t exceptable . I purchased pillow cases to make my stay healthy . The bed was comfortable though , as was one of the pillows . But they had no covers this is not good for hygiene.
The walls were not clean either . Lots of marks from the coming and going of guests . There were two chairs in a very small space . That made no sense one orange seat was sufficient. I kept my headphones on during the night as the doors had a locking system with with dings bings .bangs .
All of this was written by previous guests on booking . Com but I didn’t understand it until I experienced it . There was no lamp in the room only the main big light . That was a bit harsh either darkness or bright light . And the aircon was noisy . But I did bring ear plugs and headphones .

Very loud with the door constantly beeping and going off all night and the room was very stuffy and I could adjust the air.

But it doesn't feel very clean.

The big mat underneath the bed was not clean (they should get rid of it), neither was the material around the bed (it had a material edging to the bed). The sheets etc were clean. Window sills were thick with dust. My room (2) was right underneath the shared kitchen, so you could hear people in there and smell the food (which wasn't a major issue for me). The room was also quite noisy in terms of the lift and locking systems on the doors. The two nights I stayed someone left at 2am-3am both days, so that woke me up. Took me a while to find the switch to work the powered blinds (a label would help this).

I have stayed a few other times at this accommodation, and it is getting worse.
My room's lights did not work, and so they have a lamp available. The light switch electronics are exposed and covered with a note saying "Use Lamp"
The walls are getting very scuffed and unclean.
The shower was dirty with visible mould/build up near the drain, it could use a very good clean.

The aircon was a major bug bear. Even setting it to the lowest, it did not effectively cool the room for a hot Sydney summer and there were no fans.

Finally, the use of electronic locks is great for ease of access but they are very loud with people coming and going. Someone always leaves at 5am, loud beep beep beep, and the opening and closing of doors with the electronic locks requires the mechanisms to be very loud. Ergo, I was awoken each morning early and late at night.
