Terrible Exerience
Pros:

It's a heritage hotel that is close to Park Street.

Cons:

Terrible experience. First off, I understand that a heritage hotel will be older, but this place had literal mold on the walls. See my pictures. It was so damp in the room that the floors were wet every morning. Second, my room (11) was right next to the dining room so I had to listen to dinner chatter, knives on plates, and music until almost 11 every night. There was noise from the door and noise from the window because the workers congregated outside. Third, the breakfast was barely a breakfast. Mostly carbs and nothing substantial. They had paratha, idly, and dosa but only one weak potato curry.

I paid 300 USD for four nights, and I have never felt more ripped off.

Poor maintenance, unsafe location*
The hotel is very old and poorly maintained. AC was leaking and we had to change rooms due to maintenance issues. The surrounding area feels unsafe to walk in at night. Staff was courteous, but that’s the only positive. Not recommended unless major repairs are done.

Pros:

Very beautiful place, location is amazing, walking distance to most of the places. Deluxe rooms are renovated to they are really good and comfortable.

A pleasure to stay at this characterful boutique hotel.
Pros:

Very comfortable room with a lovely private balcony, which I really loved. Old-world charm and iconic memorabilia. The food is fab. Plus, a great location as it's located very close to Park Street. My fav place to stay in Kolkata!

Cons:

Property could do with better maintenance. Looks a little jaded in parts.

Glorious, historic, character-filled stay
Pros:

Unique property with character, history & star romance (see: Shashi Kapoor). PLUS lovely attentive and polite staff. Historic building but updated & comfortable (eg good bathroom, AC etc)

Cons:

There was nothing that I didn’t like. But I had to take off a point because the heavenly sitting rooms are not AC so it was too hot to sit there. Not a criticism, just means I will have to return in cooler season.

Hotel de charme unique
Pros:

L’ambiance est exceptionnelle : un vieux bâtiment colonial chargé d’histoire. Nous transportés dans un autre monde en plein centre de Calcutta . Personnel au top. Chambre spacieuse avec une magnifique petite terrasse.
