Very beautiful place, location is amazing, walking distance to most of the places. Deluxe rooms are renovated to they are really good and comfortable.
The other part of bungalow can be renovated.
Very comfortable room with a lovely private balcony, which I really loved. Old-world charm and iconic memorabilia. The food is fab. Plus, a great location as it's located very close to Park Street. My fav place to stay in Kolkata!
Property could do with better maintenance. Looks a little jaded in parts.
Proximity to city centre
The property looks slightly run down. The bathroom was uncomfortable to use - p over a tub, and the water pressure was not great.
Very good breakfast
nothing at all
Dirty rooms and stinky toilets, walls all fungus
Unique property with character, history & star romance (see: Shashi Kapoor). PLUS lovely attentive and polite staff. Historic building but updated & comfortable (eg good bathroom, AC etc)
There was nothing that I didn’t like. But I had to take off a point because the heavenly sitting rooms are not AC so it was too hot to sit there. Not a criticism, just means I will have to return in cooler season.
location
The upkeep of the room is bad. Full fungal growth on the wall of the toilet, and it was stinky and toilet seat cover was defective
L’ambiance est exceptionnelle : un vieux bâtiment colonial chargé d’histoire. Nous transportés dans un autre monde en plein centre de Calcutta . Personnel au top. Chambre spacieuse avec une magnifique petite terrasse.
Rien. Tout etait parfait !
The location was perfect, easy to walk to tour meet up points. It is a heritage hotel so I enjoyed learning about the history and notable guests. The food was also delicious.
It takes 30 minutes for the water to get warm for a shower
For rooms on the ground floor, the music from restaurant was quite loud. I'd recommend a upstairs room to future guests.
Lovely staff and atmosphere. Always happy to return after trips out into the bustling city!
Not very powerful aircon or water pressure (but both just about adequate) Lots of open air for hotel amenities, so maybe complimentary mosquito repellant would be helpful.
Posizione in zona tranquilla, personale gentile e disponibile, ottimo ristorante aperto a qualsiasi ora, buonissima la colazione varia e abbondante!! Camera grande e pulita, letto comodo.
Nulla
Location
For 70 euros per night I was placed in a stinky, musty, small and dark room without windows in a corner of the dining room, with uncomfortable bed, an old noisy fan, an almost non-existent wifi, probably a former space for family's slaves. The greediness of the (ostensibly noble) owners of this place goes beyond any imagination. But well, it's India, nothing should surprise you...
Historic old hotel, very interesting vibe if you are looking for something that is not a chain hotel. Great that they have many western options for food at their restaurant as well, so you can have plenty of choice.
Because it is old, some facilities are old as well and may not be working too well, such as the water boiler. Overall, everything was manageable.
